SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich was thrown out of office Thursday without a single lawmaker coming to his defense, brought down by a government-for-sale scandal that stretched from Chicago to Capitol Hill and turned the foul-mouthed politician into a national punchline.
Blagojevich, accused of trying to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat, becomes the first U.S. governor in more than 20 years to be removed by impeachment.
After a four-day trial, the Illinois Senate voted 59-0 to convict him of abuse of power, automatically ousting the second-term Democrat. In a second, identical vote, lawmakers further barred Blagojevich from ever holding public office in the state again.
Obama himself, fresh from his historic election victory, was forced to look into the matter and issued a report concluding that no one in his inner circle had done anything wrong. ost-4-1090547912:
What I read said clinical mental illness.
So you are saying Burris the new junior senator from Illinois is suffering from a clinical mental illness??
The how about Reid and the other Democrats who said they wouldn't seat him, more clinical mental depression??
Maybe then the marxist are correct, the bourgeoisie
have a bad case of mental depression brought on by pessimism.
I guess it's possible, but I have a hard time believing that. They had to already know that Blagojevich was nuts and would likely go with a scorched earth strategy.
I haven't discounted anything. Because I disagree with a far right extremist like JoeVol automatically means I don't have questions in my mind about some of Obama's past associations? Of course I do, but he is our president-elect. And by all actions of his to this point since the election, he has shown a willingness to listen to those more experience and has given us plenty of reason to feel he will govern from the center. Quite frankly, unless you are from the far left or far right, you have to like the manner in which he is organizing and planning his presidency.
I just don't get this guys angle. The way he went on the publicity tour makes me wonder what he was trying to accomplish. Either this guy was set up (unlikely) or he was trying to send a message to someone without putting his cards on the table to early.
