Rodger Hitler Godell is a moron/Vicious hits (merged)

No kidding....He could get flagged on every single ball thrown his way. Ridiculous how they let him get away with the contact. And when he does get flagged, his response is priceless.

You do not know how much of a struggle it is to cheer for him every Sunday.....but he's still dang good.

Here's another example of the NFL's concern over devastating hits.

But, depending on the stage of the catch that hit was delivered in... could be flagged for a hit on a defenseless receiver.

While I agree with the premise of the rule... I feel it should be done away with. Offenses must gameplan around the fact that a Defense should be able to separate the ball from the receiver in a fair play.

which is the biggest load of crap, as I have stated above.

You can't possibly determine that from that photo. If the defender has left his feet and launched himself into the receiver, then it's illegal. That's what was supposedly illegal about Harrison's hit Sunday.

Anyone else think that Harrison is being a big baby about all this?

It's really quite embarrassing to think about how immature this is.

Well, can you blame him? Who'd want to play Professional Football without explicitly being able to knock your opponent down a couple of IQ points about potentially 5 years off of his life?

When you have a guy like Rodney Harrison that says "this has to stop"... you know it's waaaaaaaay too much.

My thoughts exactly....sounds like he might have a little Fat Albert in him...Haynesworth that is.

I really think he just wants someone, the league, to beg him to reconsider.

Jackson was bobbling the football.

Is Robinson supposed to let him catch it?

I've already stated that I think more of the blame lies on the QB for a poor pass, Jackson for running a poor route directly into Zone coverage and the OC for putting a guy who weighs 175 and has a history of concussions across the middle.

Also, I've stated that I think it's a trash rule in it's current wording, but, the ref made the right call given the way the rule is written. Robinson only made it easier for the ref to make that call by laying Jackson out.

Rewatch the video. Jackson wasn't bobbling at all. He was in the process of making the catch, which is a provision of the current "defenseless player rule".

NFL Videos: DeSean Jackson, Dunta Robinson injured

No, but there are plenty of other ways to hit someone that don't involve basically spearing him up high. This is no different than complaining about being able to tackle the quarterback after Charles Martin tried to suplex Jim McMahon.

Yeah, Rodney Harrison is a really, really great guy to say that now that he's retired and earning money to be a talking head. He certainly put himself out on a limb with that comment.

The game has become a joke. Big hits are a part of the game & so are injuries. If u don't wanna risk it then don't play. The only hit that was flagrant was the meriweather hit. The defensless receiver rule is stupid. How many times u seen a guy get leveled on a punt return because he was looking at the runner & not the blocker? Is that ever a flag?

yes, but then i remember his fit he threw about he wasnt going to the white house because the only reason obama invited them was because the team won the super bowl and not because he was really fans of them....and i really it might just be out of his capacity

of course, his actual comments along the lines about players getting concussions or knocked unconcious as being "phonies who are just tired and want to take a nap on the field" or whatever doesn't help his case at all either

I've been angry at him for a long while now......and I mentioned my disdain at the irregular suspension policies.

i'm glad someone else sees/noticed issues with the suspensions (my complaint is mainly though more the lack of actual consistancy depending on, more or less, just how much of a popular jersey-seller the player is)
