Romney Voters

SNL is doing their weekend update stuff on Thursday nights in prime again. Last night, there was a line in an Obama skit that I thought was actually fitting.
A lady said to Obama, "I don't really want to vote for Romney, but I don't see things getting anything but worse right now. What should I do?"

There doesn't appear to be a tremendous amount of enthusiastic support for Romney. There is a tremendous amount of hate of Obama.

Are you guys excited to vote for Romney or simply voting against Obama?

Out of curiosity, how do you gauge enthusiastic support for a candidate?

That is hard to put in words.

If the candidate is someone you truly believe will do a great job and can make America a better place that would be enthusiastic.

IMO, the only person I have read on this board that is enthusiastic about Romney is VolNskinsfan. I think he sincerely believes Romney would be a great president.

Most of those supporting Romney seems to be doing so because he is the last one standing that may beat Obama or they simply hate Obama and would vote for basically anyone running against him.
That is voting for the lesser of the two evils.

I'm sure there are others that believe in Romney but VolNskinsfan has been on his bandwagon from day one. He is what I call an enthusiastic supporter.

Truthfully because I know he has no shot at all. It is Defeatist thinking I know but the fact is the Democratic, and Republican Parties own the show. You know as well as I do that we are more likely to be invaded by Poland than see a Third Party win the White House in our lifetime.

I like Johnson I really do, but Politics turned me into a Cynic long ago.

I understand your cynicism, I really do. But look at it like this. Of the people willing to vote for a candidate outside of the two main parties, what percentage of them are older and do not have much of an online presence? My guess, a very small percentage. Why? I'll give you two reasons: 1) they are used to having at least one of the two candidates be worth a crap (there have been some really solid presidents in the last 100 years), and 2) they don't know anything about the other candidates because they aren't on TV or in the debates.

You probably don't know anything about Gary Johnson (or any other candidate) unless you are online or have a friend/family member who is. He's not spending hundreds of millions of dollars for TV ads like his super-PAC backed dem/repub foes.

As that younger (under 35), Internet savvy crowd grows more and more tired of the red/blue bs and the older folks who are technically incompetent die off, a 3rd party candidate WILL win, and it will be in my lifetime.

That was a great skit - some really good jabs.

Do you think he governed as a conservative in MA?

Mitt governed as a centrist.

I think he is very proud of Romneycare and was originally for ObamaCare. In order to
Win the GOP nomination he had to be against it.

I think he is wanting to win so bad he is losing. Instead of being himself, he is listening to advisors which is causing some of his gafffes and causing him to flipflop on several issues. He comes across as a candidate who is actually scared he will screw up thus he is uptight and keeps making mistakes.
....and he's the most conservative candidate that can win.

I not refering to their character I simply meant that Romney is similar to Kerry in the way his base views him. Most of my family and many of my friends are Conservative and none of them care very much for Romney. They are only voting for him because he isn't Obama.

Romney should be winning big in the polls right now but the closer we get to the election the more it looks like Obama will be reelected. Liberals hated Bush in 2004 but that hate wasn't enough to get Kerry in office. He was a bland, and a Flip Flopper. Romney imo is Kerry 2.0

This just in, 95% of Polls polling 95% liberals show Barry up by 7 pts nationally.

Kerry? A POS that lied about his experiences in Vietnam, became a hippie loved protester and married into money?

Romney doesn't connect well, but his resume is the best we've seen for the job since Bush I.

Agree.....what the US needs now more than anything is a successful business man....not a pandering community organizer....

Why even vote if you're gonna toss it away....

I'm voting for Romney.

The fact that he's not Obama is so far at the top of my list that the rest of the list doesn't matter whatsoever.

I may just send out an email to my friends and family to let them know that if they don't vote for Romney, I'm never talking to them again.

Maybe its just time we had a president who nobody could get all spun up about, so everyone will move on with their daily lives. Romney fits Mr. Boring perfectly.

Pretty much the way I feel too....anyone that can actually support Obama and his record in office is just too damn dumb to talk to

There is definitely nothing to defend, his record speaks for itself. It's why he spent the better part of his campaign on smear tactics and distractions...

You understand this since you're a small business owner but there are a ton of folks out there that hear the media's talking points and fall for them. It's a shame the media had gotten so biased and try to protect the liberals.
