Best I can figure for 2 deep is this.

PG: Zeigler/Freddie
SG: Santi/Gainey
SF: Knecht/Mashack
PF: Ledlum/JJJ
C: Aidoo/Awaka

Bench: Jefferson/Estrella
Redshirt: Carr/Phillips

Hopefully JJJ returning doesn't frustrate Jefferson or the freshman for minutes. However, JJJ/Santi/Ledlum/Knecht would all be gone next year and open up plenty of playing time.

JJJ's an insurance policy. If Ledlum turns out to be Anosike, you play JJJ. If Knecht turns out to be Powell, you play JJJ. If Estrella can't guard at the 4, you play JJJ.

Agreed, I think a lot of people that aren't excited about JJJ being back aren't looking at it that way. Because if one of our 3 transfers ends up not being cut out for the SEC or if injuries happen. Then you have a 5 year SEC experienced senior to step in and take his spot. Talk about depth.

I can't imagine JJJ coming off the bench if he is healthy.

Obviously JJJ’s health is going to be a major component on how many minutes he plays and his role, he was able to workout for NBA teams so my guess is he’s “ok” to play. With that said the knee issues are a concern and I would think load management in the off season will be a huge deal and that early on in the year they likely will not try and push his minutes more than needed, maybe even getting a game or two off on quick back to back type games. Again that could all change, but that’s my 2 cents as of today on it, so I think him not starting is a very real possibility and being more a 6th man type. I still see…

Dang my prediction was right on the money. Only difference was I had Carr redshirting.

We also have the luxury now of letting JJJ get completely healthy. I’m not sure we’ve seen that JJJ since he’s been here. He can play light minutes (or even no minutes early in the season), manage his body, then be at the top of his game in March. Best case, Knecht and Ledlum are what we think they are and JJJ is healthy JJJ who is finally consistent.

Maybe he didn’t enroll in the mini-session which began 5/18. The regular session began 6/8.

I wouldn’t worry about what utsports dot com has posted. They had all sorts of crazy stuff streaming during the baseball games the last couple of weeks (including Jimmy Hyams Golf Talk). The AD is very sloppy with the www.

Hmmm, Carr was not at UT youth basketball camp last week and was not included on the roster sheet they handed out to campers for autographs, which had all the other newcomers (below). May not be in the directory. Any chance he’s not enrolling until Fall?
