So basically with the transfers Santi is coming back, the others are all gone? What's the math on it all? From my head math if all 3 transfers get scholarships won't that put us at 14? Heres what I came up with how close is it?

When is the deadline for players to enter the transfer portal? If someone was going to transfer for Gainey to be on scholarship then they would have to do it before that date right?

I think the portal, at least for football, closed this past Sunday night

The new rules state that the 60-day window opens “beginning the day after championships selections are made in the sport.” For men’s college basketball, the window to enter the transfer portal began on Monday, March 13 and will conclude on Thursday, May 11. so it closes next thursday

I believe our coaches know what they have to do . I know they will not exceed the limit. Therefore, I don't worry about who will be on scholarship. I've got too many other things to do than worry about something I can not control.

I have no worries about the staff at all. Its just offseason blah blah.. there is nothing else to do but theory craft at this point.

It was Edwards so now were even, but what if someone else wants to comeback? Who would be next.

I mean did Julian Phillips ever actually enter the portal? if not that still puts us 1 over unless he goes pro. I guess we will know by this Thursday.

Rob Lewis said JJJ is eligible to return as a walk-on because he has exhausted his initial eligibility (4 seasons). He still has his Covid year, in which he is able to return as a walk-on.

Phillips still has three years of initial eligibility.

So Phillips having eligibility to play NCAA basketball means he can't be a walk on player on the '23-24 UT roster? I don't understand.

Just reporting what's been said.

Essentially, Phillips doesn't meet the eligibility requirements for being a walk-on because he was a recruited athlete returning to the same school he has already been a scholarship player for, and still has initial eligibility.

Not saying I understand it either, but that is what I've deduced from what's out there. 🤷‍♂️
