RPI Discussion.

The most likely of the 3 for him not to get is the raise. You absolutely have to give him the extension, if you're not willing to then just fire him, which won't happen after a NCAA appearance. Martin still makes around 11th or 12th highest in the league, if he finishes top 4 for the 3rd straight year, and makes the dance....I'm sorry but he's deserving of a raise.

Giving raises and extensions to a football coach for underperforming is a big reason why we haven't won a SECCG since 98.

Just a guess, but I would bet Hart wouldn't consider Martin to have underperformed if he makes the dance.

Let me make clear, that doesn't mean it's my belief or how I feel, but just a guess as to how Hart feels. Hart put a bonus for making the NCAA tournament info Martin's contract, what message does that send?

Do you get a bonus at your job for underperforming? I don't.

That is a baseline. It's in a lot of contracts. I bet it's in coach K's contract. Does that mean that if he limps in as an 11 seed that they met expectations?

Not sure, he has bonuses for higher levels as well. From all I could find Martin has 2 bonuses available, SEC title and NCAA appearance.

Gonna be interesting. If he makes the dance, you can't fire him and you almost have to extend him.

Crazy thing is, I don't think you can fire him next spring after a rebuilding year. Especially if he wins 17-19 games.

Then year 5 becomes another judgment year.

Either have to stick with him or part ways after this year, IMO.

He makes the dance, and an extension and raise are in order, although size depends on tourney production IMO.

He misses and I think they should just go ahead and make the move, but only if they're gonna hire someone who has proven they can win.

based on the sec standings, tennessee does not have a "bad" conference loss.

what makes the texas a&m loss bad is that tennessee blew the game.

but, assuming tennessee wins the games it should, i think they'll get in. they will probably lose a couple they shouldn't along the way. they also may win a couple they shouldn't along the way.

i think they go 10-4 the rest of the conference year. 21-10 with a conference tourney win and i think they get in.

i understand lacking the confidence that they will win the games they should without dropping too many they shouldn't, but i think they get it done.

Haha I wasn't trying to play "gotcha"- I just thought the site had updated (it does like every minute) It does look like they have our record wrong.

Agree. The overreaction on this board from today's game is typical VN fashion. Today was a everything to gain nothing to lose, win the game we should and we'll be more than fine.

There is no gotcha.

They were 54, moved to 52 after the game, and after results of other games it appears have dropped to 59. Now is that because they have us and extra loss as it appears, not sure, but I didn't just make up that we were 52.

That was my point

another justification for a loss. typical.

pretty sure they just lost one of their few remaining "good win" possibilities.

How many good wins are required by the NCAA committee to be eligible for the tournament, I missed the memo?

Idk but we have zero at this point with only one team(fla) left that could be a quality win. Face it Martin is not a good fit for us. He has brought in excellent players but he can't lead them.

florida and missouri are both in the top 50 in the rpi. (that's 4 games on the schedule)

tennessee already has wins over virginia and xavier in the top 50 of the rpi

Team rankings has us at 59rpi and 10-6 this morning

It appears the only thing wrong with liveRPI was the record.

59 is the number
