Rum Enthusiasts...?

I'm not really a bourbon guy, but per y'all's recommendation, got some Buffalo Trace and that is workin fine for me.

Meanwhile, I tried to get some "good value" Scotch in advance of Burns Night this Friday, and the Deanston I got is disappointing; I'm having to mix it with my Jim Beam rye to make it OK for me. Maybe I'm just not a scotch guy neither.

Buffalo Trace is good not great IMO. You should try Bulleit Bourbon(pronounced bullet). Price point is around $30. The regular is pretty good but the 10 year is great. Also if you are into rye, Bulleit Rye is excellent and I highly recommend it.

I haven't drank rum in a few years. This became my favorite tequila recently...

Please stop with the Patron Silver. If you're going to drink Patron tequila the only one you should be spending your money on is Patron Anejo.

Bacardi 151. Gets you drunk fast and good. What else do ya need?

Bacardi 151...I put it on my cereal every morning...

Just like Kate Upton, it gets me up and going every day

If you like the alcohol content of Bacardi 151 you should try the Cruzan 151 at least once. It's just as strong and has a more oaky flavor. MUCH smoother to drink than Bacardi 151.

For those that like regular Captain Morgan you should really try the Captain Morgan Private Stock. It's so smooth and it's not expensive.

Captain Morgan Private Stock is really smooth and has almost a sweet after taste to me. Very easy to drink.

That's good stuff...try the A'bundah (sp?) sometime. It is Abelour's next step up.:hi:

I've got it. Didn't recommend it cause its a bit too stiff for most peoples taste. @120 proof.

Nonchill filtered, cask strength is all I've been buying lately.

One of the few liquors I could drink straight without chasing it! So smooth and woody. I value my esophagus so I'm not looking forward to early throat cancer.

I usually drink whiskey, not rum or tequila. It was free and very good. I've never tried Anejo. But I dont pretend to be an alcohol snob either.

Actually, neither do I pretend to be an alcohol snob. I was simply making a recommendation as to flavor. So many bars stock Patron Silver and ONLY Patron Silver that a lot of people don't get the chance to even try the more complex flavors of some of the other Patron lines of Tequila.

I stumbled onto this brand in Elijay Ga (great liquor store).

Caribbean Spirits La Favorite Rhum Agricole Ambre

The label has changed but its the same stuff - it's Rhum Agricole which means it's made directly from sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Not as sweet IMO. Martinique is the primary source of Rhum.

Highly recommended

This is what the bottle looks like now

Once it warms up, I highly recommend Ti Punch - I got into this last summer. Definitely try to find pure cane syrup instead of simple syrup.

‘Ti Punch

“We have this saying in Martinique: ‘chacun prépare sa propre mort’ which translates to be ‘Each one prepares their own death,’” says Ben Jones, executive at Rhum Clément and descendent of Rhum Clément founder, Homère Clément. “I truly appreciate when a ‘Ti Punch is served deconstructed because I like to prepare my own. A tray would have a bottle of Sirop or natural sugar, cut limes, a bowl of ice and a bottle of rhum.”

Patron doesn't make a product with complex flavors, unless rust is considered a complex flavor. It's a massively marketed label. Marketing sells more liquor than quality. Same reason Grey Goose kerosene got popular.

I'll check it out - Birmingham isn't a big rum town so the selection is pretty light. I had to mail order my La Favorite Rhum.

Same here in Knoxville. I stock up on rum when I'm in Miami.

I've found my favorites are Dominican and Guatemalan rums.

I was being more brand specific in that response. I had an awesome Tequila at a friends house and it was delicious, much better than any Patron, sadly I can't remember the name of it! :cray:

What do you recommend bamacheats?

I'm rolling some of that Pyrat on the rocks. Very nice. Rum is a great summer drink.

Gonna get some of that Zacapa 23 yo that was recommended in this thread.

Anybody had Barbancourt rum from my Haiti? There are multiple versions, 3-star, 4-star ...

I had the Rhum Barbancourt in an effort to have Rhum instead of Rum. Was fine but not as good as the La Favorite Rhum I posted about earlier in this thread.

I've seen Pyrat on the shelves and pondered buying some but haven't heard many reviews on it.
I think someone recommended Sailor Jerry to me a while back, not sure if I tried it though.
