Rumor about Harris and Goins fathers

I think he'll declare. Like I said, JMO.

If it's looking more and more likely we're staring at a work-stoppage I suppose he returns.

Like I said, JMO.

I know the draft prognostication sites have him going in the late first round, but that is based on hype. His play has dropped off significantly and it's becoming obvious he has talent, he just needs more coaching than a team would be willing to drop into a SF in the first round. His mid-range game is gone. He can handle the ball, but his passing leaves a lot to be desired.

Maybe he's a first rounder - I'm not an NBA scout obviously. If so, he should go ahead and declare now.

Mid-first round lottery pick? Tobias Harris? You really think that?

Lottery pick?

And NBA scouts definitely think he'll produce more at the pro level than he does now - they don't like how we use him either and think that's a major think holding him back.

This part is pure speculation based on just things I've heard through the grapevine, but I wonder if they are afraid the longer he waits the more his draft stock drops?

Living in Memphis I've come accustomed to calling the all picks in the draft lottery picks. And depending on which side of the "mid-first round" it would be a lottery pick.

I don't like the way Harris is used either. But when he does get the ball on the post, he has no move to get an open jumper. That is a bread-n-butter move in the league. Has he kissed an 8 footer of the glass all year?

You have been all over this issue. I just dont understand where you get this info. Could you explain his better uses at the pro level? He does not have a strong enough back to the basket game to score on the block in the NBA. His mid-range and 3-pt shooting is not consistent. He has some ability to put the ball on the floor and create but does not finish above the rim with authority. I love him as a freshman in college. Think he is doing very well. But this fallacy that he is just being held back by how we use him in getting old. Not to mention, NBA forwards will make him look silly on defense. With this season as his resume, a year removed from the hype he had coming out of high school, he would be extremely lucky to get drafted in the mid-1st round. Late 1st round would be most likely. Again, I will compare his game to Tyler Smith. Very similar. What NBA roster is he on right now?

Quite honestly, I can't tell you the logic that NBA execs use in determining draftability most years. It makes no sense to me.

It's not like being a late first round pick guarantees him anything.

Very true. The lockout possibility has to be considered as well. No play = No Pay unless you are getting endorsement money. I'm not sure how far down the lottery pick ladder the big endorsement monies go.

It's been noted on here before by others, but he needs to do something other than the one handed floater he uses all of the time. Those shots won't fly in the NBA.

Also, his lack of any post moves doesn't translate well to the League. He'd never get a shot off on the block doing what he does now.

Assuming for the moment this is true (I obviously don't know and don't really care), does anyone else think it is a problem how involved some peoples' parents are in their college sports careers? Half the point of college is learning to grow up and make a way for yourself. How can that happen for a kid if his parents keep interjecting themselves into every situation?

worked out pretty good for ole Cecil
He pockets a 100K plus, and Cam wins a NC and Heisman

Has an NBA scout actually said this?

He'll be mid-first round - but Tobias will be a better pro player than college player.

Based on what? He seems to be slow of foot. Has yet to hit a big time shot at the end of a game (has had multiple chances Arkansas, Georgia). And may be developing an injury problem.

If anybody needs more tweaking at the college level, it is this kid.
