Rumor about Harris and Goins fathers

I don't like the way Harris is used either. But when he does get the ball on the post, he has no move to get an open jumper. That is a bread-n-butter move in the league. Has he kissed an 8 footer of the glass all year?

Harris should be a strong scorer anywhere from 5 to 15 feet from the basket. Does anyone use the glass anymore? That only shows how stupid the game and its players have gotten. Bernard King LIVED off the short bank shot---quick fake one way, turn and kiss it off the glass. So soft. Grunfeld also operated in that same space--backing guys down to around 8-10 feet with this size and scoring. Harris is very similar to him. When you have size and can handle the ball, yea, you can drive the ball from outside, but you can also do a ton of damage close to the basket--where needless to say your shooting percentage is higher and you get fouled a lot.

Not intended to divert attention...just seems a bit odd! :hi: does it not?

Theres plenty of unfounded crap floating in the bowl here, its a matter of flushing it.

Plenty of longtime posters, well, at least one, posts message board conjecture/rumor as truth regularly.

He'll be mid-first round - but Tobias will be a better pro player than college player.

No and no. He will not be averaging 15 and 8 in the NBA and if struggles at defense in the SEC, it's not going to be any easier in the NBA.

Lottery pick?

And NBA scouts definitely think he'll produce more at the pro level than he does now - they don't like how we use him either and think that's a major think holding him back.

More productive in what way? He's basically averaging 15/8 right now, so you are saying NBA scouts see him averaging a double-double?

It's been noted on here before by others, but he needs to do something other than the one handed floater he uses all of the time. Those shots won't fly in the NBA.

Oh, they'll fly. They'll fly right up into the stands when (insert random NBA player here) takes out his fly swatter.

And that's assuming he'd see the floor, which I doubt.

Tobias has to develop a more consistent jumper, stronger post moves, and exhibit a ton more effort defensively before he'll ever see the floor in the NBA.

Where? I'd like to read his comments.

It's not in writing - I've heard 2 different scouts on XM radio (forgot the station) that were being asked about the draft class.. and then another one with a not so highly view on him. But one did say he was going to be a better pro than college player - and 2 said they didn't think we were using him the right way.

So, This could be an alter ego/evil twin persona making nearly 300 posts in 2+ months...? :eek:k:

Who cares...... there's a dozen players waiting to take their place. The team the Vols put on the floor is not going to intimidate anybody. Sometimes they have several players on the offensive end who couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a base fiddle.

I knew it would be a radio guy.

Yeah - because I pulled something that bold and specific straight out of my ass right?

And you see all the legitimate talent scouts posting blogs at this point, too right? A caller from NYC called up and asked about Tobias - otherwise it would have never been discussed when I was listening.

I'd hate to be those scouts. Since they've broken the biggest rule for an NBA scout and commented publicly on an underclassman, they'll be unemployed soon. Of course, it was probably just the guys from DraftExpress or some other site operated out of a convenience store bathroom.

I don't see how he's going to be a better NBA prospect. He struggles with his back to the basket, he doesn't have much of a mid-range jumper, and perhaps most importantly: he's not very athletic. Defensively, he has struggled greatly against athletic SEC bigs with average skill sets. And his floaters in the lane aren't really going to be appealing to NBA teams.

I honestly have no idea what his credentials were - from the sounds of it he had been out of the business awhile - I turned it on mid interview. He was an older guy.

I don't know. But he's not meant to play with his back to the basket and that's pretty obvious. He's way more comfortable off the dribble. His 3-point ability and mid-range jumper are much better than many give him credit for - he just doesn't use it enough. He'll get better at that and will get better at finishing with his back to the basket.

I see people comparing him to Tyler Smith and that's just a bad comparison other than the fact they're both black and both played the 4 at Tennessee. He's a better shooter and better with the ball on the floor than Tyler. Better frame and still more athletic. He may be a little slower though.

I'm not for sure what happened...maybe a freshman wall...whatever that is....maybe the injury....but he has definitely struggled the last three weeks or so....Is his upside great? Absolutely!!!! He may be one of those players someday that we look back on and wonder why we weren't a better team when we had him...just don't know at this point...You know, like ALL the Calipari players he had...Which I still can't understand how he didn't go further with ALL the NBA talent he's had...Yeah, I know he phantomly player for a National Championship at Memphis .....of course he literally blew that game which was in his hands. But I digress...Hopefully Tobias can go to another level down the stretch....

Unfortunatly for Tobias, Billy Knight is no longer a GM in the association.

I head Goins has herpes. It was written on the pedestrian walkway.
Also, Woolridge got in a fight with Bone today in practice and will not play.
