Rumor re: offensive player

Lache would be a monster after a couple of years in a weight program, like Chris Johnson. He would not be a freshmen impact player IMO.

Totally agree. Ambles looks like the best pure receiver I've seen of this class. So smooth and great hands.

don't think i am going out on a limb by saying Prater looks over hyped and Ambles under hyped.

Look beyond the stats...

He made 2 catches that were brought back and one incredible catch that was out of bounds. Excellent hands (other than the drop), and gets open.. Prater is a physical wonder, but not as pure as Ambles.

I don't think Prater is over-hyped necessarily based off of one game. He's clearly a very big dude with big hands who has been great in practice all week. Physical stats go a long way in college football. Keep in mind the East QB's were awful.

I think Ambles is a better route runner based off of today though and more shifty as well. Plus he has great hands (except for the one easy catch)

Would you not rather have Ambles and Rogers?

obviously you would want both. however, i feel like we have recruited that position so well, that if we get one more WR, we might see some rethink their situation...

I dont want to lose Ambles..

He showed us and the rest of the football world that he will be a stud at WR.

I am hoping we land the rogers kid from ga. He will be better than prater in my opinion.

I hope we land him too... We are pretty solid at WR but this guy could seal the deal. Imagine this recruiting class playing with Bray in a couple years!! :good!: --- That's why we need Da'Rick Rogers.

If you watch Ambles' vid when he came to camp at UT, he was smooth as silk. Watching him go against DBs one on one is a thing of beauty. People on this site have always questioned his speed (and there is the requisite "Jerry Rice is not that fast" argument that follows), but it is his ROUTE running that makes him so great. He has the best route running I have seen in this class and great soft hands. He's not a Dunkley type burner, nor is he a Prater type bruiser. He's a Jerry Rice type player - not the most physically gifted nor the fastest, but he gets open and catches very well. And no I am not saying that he's the next Jerry Rice.

That may be more of a want.

I was AMAZED at how much better of a route runner Ambles was than Prater! He was much more impressive.

That may be more of a want.

I think we need as many five-star players we can get, eh?

Yeah Ambles runs his routes effortlessly. He is a born WR, and you can tell watching him. We haven't had a player like that at UT in a long time.

I still think he is over hyped. He may still be the #1 WR, but he isn't a god at the position. He has had so much hype mainly due to the fact of people's perception of "he looks like J. Jones, or AJ Green".

All we heard the announcers say was "i'd like to see them throw it to Prater.." Why? because he is hyped to be this absolute freak.

He has physical tools, but so did Turner, Jarrett...

No need to call him names, he's just upset because we didn't get our hats picked up today - and that's okay. Maybe he's new to recruiting and doesn't know the dramatic twists and mind changesr yet... all is not lost and there's no need to berate him.

One thing he said is true, and don't get me wrong - I live and breathe Tennessee football - but Knoxville isn't as desirable as a lot of us regard it as. And that isn't necessarily a horrible thing. It just means we have to work harder for our recruits.
Ditto

No doubt. The Announcers were all up his butt during the telecast. I still think it has a lot to do with the QB play. Ambles was lucky to get anything with those guys. Plus the O Line got dominated by the West. Hard to judge him on that one game though is all I'm saying.

They kept on throwing to him and Dixon kept on shutting him down!

He didn't win the player of the day award like our boy Ambles.

I agree, but we are judging Ambles on one game too.

I just think this was a big game for Prater, and he didn't show up as good as he should have.

If he would have caught that endzone pass, and made some ground after his receptions then i would be equally impressed.

His hands weren't so great on the play near the sidelines where the ball went right through his hands lol. That being said he does seem fluid and talented. Made that great catch over the middle where he had to adjust to the ball, and also possibly would have scored on another had he been able to keep his feet. I don't think there's any question he will be a play maker for us, glad to have him.

I would like to get Cole Marcoux he looked great out there today I say we give Lamaison the boot and offer Marcoux lol

So, which offensive player did you see today that you hope has the Vols as his school? I didn't get to watch the game.

Marcoux looked good but we have a limited number of scholarships.. so now it becomes a Surplus of talent and shortage of schollys.

Well.. I am glad Ambles is a vol...

I think that current commits, Baxter, Woods, and Heaps.. looked really good.

I also would like Henderson because he is Gigantic and I thought well spoken.
