That should tell you what it means to some people in Kentucky. It is their arena. Let them do what they want.
All the old stadiums that have been torn down held a lot of memories. Legion Field means a lot to the people of Birmingham, but Alabama cancelled its games there years ago because Birmingham didn't want to update the old stadium or build a new facility.
Although the talks have been in motion several years, Louisville building their state of the art arena really pressed the issue. Most people think that the focal point of doing this renovation is luxury boxes, which in the report there will be very few added. Renovating the locker rooms are a big priority, and additional seats will be added, not subtracted. All bleachers in the upper section will be replaced by chair seats, and new scoreboards and huge instant replay screens will be added. Basically emulating most modern NBA arena's while trying to keep the college atmosphere of Rupp as it is now.
I'm sure a lotta you heard (and probably don't care) but people in Kentucky getting excited over possibility of renovated Rupp Arena.
Lexington still pursuing Rupp Arena renovation
Thoughts? Lets try to be serious here. I'm just interested to see some opposing views. I would guess some have been there for games and the such.
Thanks.
