Rupp Arena

I do not think that the population size really has much to do with the hate. Most people that live in Lexington understand it was not and is not supposed to be a metropolis.

It has been my experience that the people in Lex like to pretend they are just as metropolitan. I guess you haven't experienced that. Renovating Rupp has as much to do with conference business as it does with basketball.

The only possible way you tear down Rupp is if it's impossible to upgrade it to what they want and besides the scoreboard from the roof, they can pretty much do everything they want?

Yes, it is simply a sports program reference as to who dominates the state. Arguing that Lexington as a city is comparable to Louisville is dumb.

That being said, Lexington is a much nicer place to live in overall IMO.

I have to disagree, having lived in both. I don't think Lex holds a candle to Louisville. There is much more to do in Louisville, and it's a lot easier to get around the city. Lex is a pain to drive in, because it has the road system of an even smaller town.

A. He won't be there for more than 5-7 more years tops
B. He doesn't have to at Kentucky. It's the first place he's coached where the program sells itself, regardless of the coach

You'd think that no coach would have to cheat, because the KY program would sell itself, but history tells us otherwise.

I actually agree. I just got my license this summer, and it was really a pain to drive in Lex.

Concerning traffic, yes Lexington sucks. But you can also walk downtown without getting pistol whipped and robbed, or go to a horse race without getting a lung punctured from a stab wound, both of which happened in Louisville to friends of mine. Of course hating Louisville sports with every fiber of my being somewhat skews my opinions.

However, I would be careful in the North part of town. I went there for Screampark with my cousin. I drove there and almost got hit 2-3 times by other drunk people. To go to the screampark we walked by a bar with some VERY drunk people. Then we enjoyed ourselves but after we came out I found my front windshield broken...

Artist pics of the proposed renovations. The purple color on the ribbon isn't the actual color, but just there to show that it is electronic boards all the way around the arena.

Just saw these on KSR. Totally badass with the blue stormtrooper on the Segway, lolol.

Now that would be a worthy sanctuary fitting of Big Blue worship.

1) You do not tear down Rupp Arena, The Dean Dome, Phog Allen Fieldhouse, etc. To think so is blasphemy.

2) The feasibility study was conducted and a new arena would basically double the cost of renovating Rupp. Keeping the best of both worlds would be to renovate the legendary building.

They tried to move the jerseys in the Dean Dome for cleaning. After one attempt and realizing that they would fall apart they stopped and decided to leave them alone.

Odd really..
