The irony here, it is the West who needs to galvanize it's citizens behind Ukraine, not Russia needing to galvanize it's citizens.
The vast majority of western citizens, despise their government and their leaders. They want no part of the Ukraine idiocy. Even if Putin were to strike a military target in the EU that has been training Ukrainian troops, I doubt even that would galvanize western citizens behind a war with Russia at this point. Putin would be wise to use this mis-alignment in the West between the citizens and the ruling class, to his advantage.
