Saban and Lane Kiffin together...

I don't know if it's true, but I heard Cowherd say this morning that Kiffen was @ Alabama with Saban. He was brought in to help out with the offense apparently. Thought it worth mentioning.

Obviously no one has read the actual reason Kiffin will be working with Saban. He apparently has hired him to evaluate their offense and consult them regarding this matter. This happens a lot. UT has paid NFL coaches to consult especially at clinics and off season. Chill out people.....Kiffin is not nor will he be a part of Saban's staff down there.

This is a good move, for both Saban AND Kiffin. Regardless of how we may feel about him and his ethics, Kiffin is held in high regard as a offensive genius by people who are WAY more qualified to give that label to him than any of us on VN are.

Saban is looking to be more open with his offense, and Kiffin is looking for some positive headlines to land somewhere as an OC or HC soon. It's a no brainer for all parties involved.

I always liked Kiffin and wished that he had stayed. There were only two gripes I had against him. One was not that he left but the way he left. Two, that stupid ass Lane Train song that some hillbilly put out.

Ok I could see bringing in a Josh McDaniels or a Greg Roman. But why would Saban bring in an inferior offensive guy like Kiffin? Nussmeier is a way better OC than Kiffin ever thought about.

Maybe it has to do with the game where Kiffin almost beat him a few years back? Maybe he wants to pick Kiffin's brain as to how Kiffin coached that game and nearly won with lesser talent.

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that Josh McDaniels and Greg Roman have OC jobs in the NFL and are not free to consult right now. Kiffin is more than qualified to review film and practice and make suggestions for improvement.
