Saban of Year "ZERO" Says SHHHHHHHH!

Butch is Butch. We can and have made dozens of comparisons to first year coaches. There are plenty of examples to go around on both sides of the argument. I just think it's irrelevant.

Errbody simmah down and forget about saban, he has nothing to do with the Tennessee program.

I thought the players had bought into Butch's coaching...you know "Butch Gets It".

Wouldn't that include believing in themselves?

This team looks no more disciplined than the 2012 team. I know the cupboard is bare, but that's when the coaches have to coach to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. They haven't done this as a team.

If Butch does indeed "Get It" then it needs to show up on the field on Saturdays.

Ask yourself this, do you feel better about this team at 4:40 this afternoon than you did at 12:20 this afternoon?

Last question.... No. Much worse.

And 4 Conference Titles in 6 years makes Butch Jones a loser?

The point being, Saban had proved himself on the big stage by the time he got to Alabama. Nobody said Jones is a loser. And regardless, it's irrelevant.

I'd be less skeptical if it weren't for the fact that most of "he gets it" crowd were the same ones telling us how great Dooley was a year ago. We're probably still on pace for the 4-8 finish that I expected so I can't claim any disappointment. It's going to take 4 or 5 years to see where this goes. There's no money left in the kitty for a change even if it starts to look like we need it. There's nothing to do but find whatever silver lining you can and try to enjoy the ride.

Saban never lost a game by more than a TD his first year. Plus he recruited the best class of the decade.

And Jones is bringing in a monster class himself next year. it was stupid to judge Saban by his first season and it will be stupid to judge Jones by his first season.

Sometimes coaches just need to work with *gasp* actual talent to be successful. We know the talent is coming, so just hold on your judgment until we see how it all turns out.

I don't feel better about this team than I did last year at this time.

Were those SEC conference titles? And to answer your question: no. That doesn't make him a loser. But leaving Peterman in series after series when it was obvious to anyone with eyeballs that he needed to be benched and THEN sending him back out for one more AFTER breaking his hand might.
Not setting some redshirts ablaze next week WILL make him a loser in my book. He is barely hanging on to "competent" status after today's fiasco

How many times do we have to hear about Saban's first year loss? We get it already.

You get it boss.....most of the folks on here don't and forget how hard it is to start over with players that have had there football IQ not go up any since their senior year in high school.

You are skeptical because Dooley supporters support Butch? Mmmmkay.

Talent or no talent. My beef is with the in game decisions.

To all of those who are "sick" of the ULM game being brough it up, you only have yourselves to blame. You are the ones who act like it is an unforgivable sin for a team to struggle with a lower tier opponent. We have no choice but to put you in your place with little things like facts. Bringing up unrelated occurrences (like the Bama-UT game) to the direct subject at hand (games against mid-majors) does not help your cause.

I know I didn't. But I do however, believe changes need to be made at the coordinators positions. These guys aren't ready for the sec. I think butch showed a little to much loyalty to these guys at UT's expense.

And where did Saban start before the SEC?

What's that got to do with the comparison to Alabama's ULM loss? The point is that loss happened AFTER Saban had already more than proven he can win in the SEC; which is why it's stupid to keep pointing to that game as some kind of comparison.

I just don't expect much this year. I was happy to escape with a win today. And I loved seeing Corey Vereen get a big hit on the quarterback with the game on the line.

Feel the same.....seasons a marathon...not a sprint...same thing with turning a program around. calm down.

Sending a message to all the recruiting class he has assembled that has been preaching early playing time and open competition for it....then doing so for a whole weak before Florida...saying Peterman beat Worley in practice....then yanking him after 2 bad plays in a game we were expected to lose anyway....makes a lot of sense and sends a good message to the future building blocks we need here. But hey...VolNation knows best.

Not entirely true. I never said anything about Tennessee struggling today. And the Vols actually played well in the first half. After that touchdown to start the third we let up. Let's hope it's a good teaching opportunity; and luckily it didn't cost is a win.

Nothing marks a great coach like sacrificing the future with the blind hope that it might make things a little better in a mostly irrelevant year.

You could be right, but personally I just prefer to let the season play out before I start screaming for coordinators to be fired. The Vols are 3-2, as expected.
