Were those SEC conference titles? And to answer your question: no. That doesn't make him a loser. But leaving Peterman in series after series when it was obvious to anyone with eyeballs that he needed to be benched and THEN sending him back out for one more AFTER breaking his hand might.
Not setting some redshirts ablaze next week WILL make him a loser in my book. He is barely hanging on to "competent" status after today's fiasco
Nothing marks a great coach like sacrificing the future with the blind hope that it might make things a little better in a mostly irrelevant year.
To all of those who are "sick" of the ULM game being brough it up, you only have yourselves to blame. You are the ones who act like it is an unforgivable sin for a team to struggle with a lower tier opponent. We have no choice but to put you in your place with little things like facts. Bringing up unrelated occurrences (like the Bama-UT game) to the direct subject at hand (games against mid-majors) does not help your cause.
I thought the players had bought into Butch's coaching...you know "Butch Gets It".
Wouldn't that include believing in themselves?
This team looks no more disciplined than the 2012 team. I know the cupboard is bare, but that's when the coaches have to coach to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. They haven't done this as a team.?
You could be right, but personally I just prefer to let the season play out before I start screaming for coordinators to be fired. The Vols are 3-2, as expected.
Nothing marks an incompetent one like throwing away any year or any game. And if the freshmen truly are "the future" like you say, they need to be taking their lumps NOW.
Talent or no talent. My beef is with the in game decisions.
What does that have to do with anything? It's a high risk/low reward scenario in the immediate term. And if they're good enough to make a difference in 2013, they're good enough to make even more of a difference in 2017.
Not entirely true. I never said anything about Tennessee struggling today. And the Vols actually played well in the first half. After that touchdown to start the third we let up. Let's hope it's a good teaching opportunity; and luckily it didn't cost is a win.
Where is the "high risk" you speak of? It's not complicated. They probably won't make a difference this year. But they will get much needed experience for NEXT year and beyond. They will have to be thrown into the fire eventually. Why not now when their rookie mistakes are being made currently by a Junior?
Butch proved it @ WM & UC. Whatz the difference?
The high risk comes if the team suddenly doesn't have a QB for 2017, when there's a pretty good chance of them competing for much more than they are now.
How do you know this? There are a lot of weaknesses on this team. It's going to take more than coaching for this team to improve. This team has had a losers mentality for the last four years. Hell the fan base has a losers mentality. It going to take longer than 10 months to fix.
