Saban of Year "ZERO" Says SHHHHHHHH!

Were you not on this site from the time Butch was hired throughout the off-season? This place was buzzing. Butch Gets It, and the losing culture was gone.

The only different in this year than last year, so far, are the names of the head coaches. Everything else pretty much looks the same.

I like reading most your post bud, but come on the same? Dooley had 3 NFL targets and a NFL QB to work with, along with this o-line we have this year. I'll take that and you take Worley and lets see who wins.

Nothing marks a great coach like sacrificing the future with the blind hope that it might make things a little better in a mostly irrelevant year.

If either of these guys is the answer, then he will probably not play out his eligibility anyway. This sacrificing the future bs is just that.

You're right about the O but the D is the same and the D should be better.

I think they are better, but the lack of speed to contain the edge kills us. We also don't have any quality depth. I would like to see more of Veeren and less of Smith at WDE. I think C. Miller and Hood have both played really well this year. I also think we have a stud CB in Sutton. I believe we also have great assistant coaches in Thig, Stripling, and Willie. Jancek wants to man up and blitz a lot but he can't with our current roster, so we sit in coverage and allow teams to gain 2-4 yards on average and try to force turnovers when other teams make mistakes. This IS NOT what our defense will look like in a few years, but we must have time to recruit some pass rushers, speedy OLB, and some more CBs who have the speed to be man up CBs.

If you're saying the D should be better than they are, I agree. If you're saying they should be better than they were last year, they are without doubt.

Scared to answer because you haven't a clue. So we should expect Butch to do exactly what Saban did in '08. Be more evasive please.

You're only proving my point. Saban's performance in 08 showed how misleading his performance in 07 was. Just like Butch Jones' 2013 season shouldn't be a gauge of his actual ability as a coach.

I still fail to see why you are so concerned about TWENTY SEVENTEEN. What about 2013, 2014, 2015, or 2016? You just going to forfeit those seasons so you might make a run for the east when Dillon Bates is a Sr? Wow. I don't mind a good debate with an able opponent, but I won't continue this debate if that's the origin of your "logic."

This makes no sense, and you make it sound like I'm redshirting them from 2014-2016 as well. All I'm saying is that we're likely to be playing for more in 2017 than 2013, and Dobbs/Ferguson will likely be better players then than they are now. Developing players for the long run is the purpose of redshirting in the first place.

You don't throw that away with shortsighted desperation moves when a) you don't know if they're an actual improvement and b) the improvement they could provide, if it even exists, is still relatively small.

Yes but we had glimpses in 2007; they whipped us horribly.

And again, Saban was already a proven winner in the SEC; Jones has yet to prove that so for Saban in 2007 there was much less freaking out.

I mostly am tired of the Saban/ULM thing because that was mentioned all through the Dooley error.
