Sam Montgomery

The main thing I took from the article is that his mom loved our coaches. That is a huge thing it seems with recruiting. If mom doesnt like the coaches she will not send her child away, and he will be reminded of that everyday until NSD

Now, outgoing Greenwood head coach Shell Dula details Montgomery's reaction to his Michigan visit.

"I talked with him yesterday and I think he had a very nice time at Michigan," Coach Dula said. "He said the food was delicious and I think he had a good time there. He's certainly been impressed with the coaches he's met and I think he feels very good about Michigan.

"I think the main thing was Sam was impressed and he felt like the people treated him in a positive way at Michigan. He's looking for a place where there's good camaraderie and where he feels comfortable, and I think he certainly felt that at Michigan. Plus, Michigan is one of the top programs in our country."

"First of all, Sam's potential is immeasurable," Coach Dula remarked. "The thing that's hurt him as much as anything in high school is he's played three sports, and even though he is in a weightlifting class, he's never been in a full weight program. I think his potential is unbelievable as he gets stronger and better understands the game. As a rush end, he could be 270 pounds and run a 4.5 40 without any trouble."

1 factor that i havent seen mentioned & im sure he & his mom have talked about is what school would give him his best shot at the nfl & that is a no brainer. Its not the only factor but an important 1 to consider if ur this kid.

With coach O & MK i think he would have a leg up with their experience & learn more of what it takes to make it. jmo. If ur good enough i guess it dont matter where u go.

Plus UT has had at least one player in the Super Bowl for something like 8 of the last nine Super Bowl's. Not to mention that UT has to be in the top 4 or 5 in total players in the league. I don't have a source off the top of my head but I would venture to say it can be googled with ease.

UGA 37
Michigan 36
Tennessee 36
LSU 32
Texas 32
UF 31
Auburn 30
Notre Dame 30

Tennessee leads in defensive tackles - 8
LSU leads in one category...wanna guess? tied with Texas A&M in centers (4)

There's no date on that chart and obviously it will change next year with cuts/retirements and players being drafted.

Also, there have been a large number of former UT players whose careers have been ended by injury recently. I can think of Al Wilson, Kevin Simon and Peerless Price off the top of my head.
