He was starting due to injury. But, he played great, particularly well for a freshman, and gave way to starting senior who recovered from injury late in the season. HUGE pickup. Hope we can get a quality DB and DL to round out the transfers.Began the year starting but got beat out. Talent seems to be there, hopefully he can show it in Orange
When a team lines up there are 2 guards. Also ND is deep at Oline... here is their depth chart from the playoffs. Pendleton was listed as backup center which might be something people are sleeping on. They have one dude in their 2 deep under 310 and pendleton was the only one under 6'5. Maybe we are bringing him in for insurance at not only guard but center also?Didn’t say it was a terrible thing. I’m just saying we have a very well regarded transfer already in place who is more of a sure bet.
I don't think he's a backup. I think he's a day 1 starter at G or C.When a team lines up there are 2 guards. Also ND is deep at Oline... here is their depth chart from the playoffs. He didn't get benched bro. A senior guard came back from injury. This kid had 30 snaps in a playoff game and is a redshirt freshmenHe got benched this year, was a healthy scratch in the championship game. Moe will possibly be a preseason All American. Moe is the most important of our very few transfer additions to this point.
Struggled a bit with penalties? He'll fit right in.Hey all - UT fan and ND grad here - Pendleton is a solid pickup for the Vols. As mentioned, we lost our starting LT in fall camp and shuffled the OL prior to the opener at TA&M. Pendleton won the job and played fairly well for the first 7 games.
When we got some vets back, he got bumped but did play a little in the Orange Bowl against Penn State when 2 OL went down.
He struggled a bit with penalties, but was only a true freshman and held his own against a very good A&M DL. He is very strong and a road grader in run blocking, but needs to work on his feet in pass pro.
I would say he’s the most important transfer pickup for us of the season . I may be wrong about that, but IMO for us to function offensively at the level we want, the O Line has to have the right pieces in place . I think he’s a proven guy who played a lot of snaps for one of the best offensive lines in the country.
Or he could be the Dayne of the interior line. I think you could be right but because of how Oline works it is hard to say. Especially the interior line experience and snaps in the system and with guys matter a lot. you have to know the guys around you very well. This is slightly less important at tackle. Think of tackles like corners, guards like safeties, and centers like MLB's. Tackles are often on an island. Guards often work with others on blocks and centers run the show. When I say he is insurance, I mean he is there to plug in any holes left. He could end up backing up or starting at any of 3 positions. But the guys on the roster that have been in the system have a decent advantage because this is not a normal offense. He came from a run-heavy prostyle offense. That is a HUGE difference from UT for an IOL especially. The pace is a lot, especially for big guys and especially for aggressive guys. We are gonna have a lot more false starts than a normal offense and the more aggressive the lineman is the more likely if he is not used to it. Our linemen will have a lot less rest between snaps, so it's hard on bigger guys.I don't think he's a backup. I think he's a day 1 starter at G or C.
Pendleton got bumped up to a 4 star.Pendleton is a solid pick up,has 3 years to play, and can play multiple spots.
Overall,Moe grades out better but both are going to help.4 star in the middle ,right or left guard along with 2 5 stars on the bookends.
40% of our projected offensive line are 5 stars and best or second best OLine prospects in their respective classes-correct me if I'm wrong on that(Heard, Sanders)
Do you have any names? According to 24/7, there are only four players in the portal top 200 that are not committed or enrolled elsewhere. Two IOL from ND, QB Jaden Rashada, and WR Johntay Cook II. Not to mention we already have a full roster. We better go into 25 with 9 new transfers that can all start. If we don’t we won’t compete.
