If he’s a 2nd/3rd stringer he wouldn’t be getting drafted as highly as he likely will. In the landscape if the NFL where there are few bell cow backs anymore, he has a chance of significant playing time early. One question is whether he can actually make more at UT than in the NFL.
In the NFL, he's probably an average'ish 2nd/3rd string RB. In CFB, he's an elite RB. He's probably making $800k'ish in the NFL. I have no idea how much NIL money he can make, but it seems entirely possible he could make more at UT. At the same time, still probably better to go ahead and jump to NFL given the way the contract scales work there (get the clock running), but IDK.
I'm actually interested to see how this plays out, because it's not nearly as straight-forward in his case than it would be for a 1st round QB or pass-rusher. I don't see him going in the 1st 2 rounds. I think he's somewhere in that R3-R5 range. He's not a big pass-catcher and not a great blocker, so he's really just a straight-up RB, and he's good at that, but those guys are a dime a dozen in the NFL.
He will go as mentioned R3-R5 and will be a good pick up for some team in need. The short answer is: A LOT.
It's absolutely crazy to think Sampson grades out to go in the second round or so and stays. We can't go near NFL money nor the retirement package in 3 years if he sticks.
People are completely crazy or ignorant of the kind of money involved if he has a good draft position.

He's clearly not considered by most at this point* one of the top handful of backs. I suppose they all have whatever criteria to come up with that but it's hard to imagine speed being a great concern. I can only remember him being truly run down once and he came out of HS with a 10.66 100m.I love Sampson and he is solid. Open field Speed is my question. Great vision, and never quits moving the pile so he his the power.
See for him to not be in the top 10 of Heisman voting was the vote split up so much?
3 years ago you are right …. Obviously. Not necessarily true any more.If I were advising him, one million times out of one million GO PRO. You’ve got four college games left. Take care of the ball, win the NC and get to work on your 40 time for the combine.
Anyone wanting him to stay is not looking for the best interest of the lad long term.
Most back in the NFL were multi-year featured backs in college. Sampson played RB2 and RB3 for two years. A few games he didn’t get in.Love Dylan Sampson but RB’s have a short lifespan in the NFL.
It doesn’t make sense to stay another year.
last part isn’t true. He can come back, make a significant amount this year in NIL and improve his draft stock for a larger bonus and contract for next year. Will he get drafted this year, yes. Making NIL comparable to one year in the league isn’t holding the kids best interest back long or short term. He’s getting paid.If I were advising him, one million times out of one million GO PRO. Depends on NIL deal. A 4th rounder is going to make around $1 mil per year in rookie contract. Am interesting thing no one talks about is Tennessee does not have a state income tax. In the NFL, you pay state income tax based on where the games are played so depending on who drafts you, you may be paying a lot of state income tax.Love Dylan Sampson but RB’s have a short lifespan in the NFL.

There isn't. They just like to make things up in their minds lolTank Bigsby, from Auburn drafted in the 3rd round 88th player, signed a 4 year $5.3+M contract with a $900k guaranteed signing bonus in 2023.
So do we think Sampson goes later than #88?
Do we think we can match $900k guaranteed + $1M for next year?
I'm just not seeing how you guys think it makes any sense for Sampson to return.
1 more year vs. a 4 year contract. It's a NO BRAINERDepends on NIL deal. A 4th rounder is going to make around $1 mil per year in rookie contract. Yes it is. He’s gone, and he should be. This is nonsense. His stock would absolutely tank with all the wear and tear from seeing that many carries in 2 years. Give it up already. It's not being 'made up'. It was suggested by people in a much better position to know than you are that it is something he is weighing.
I got your dummy. I have faith in our coaches to have a plan. I never implied that they would be the only 2. Since you calling names behind a keyboard you need to type more clearly. You said we need more than freshman backs in the backfield. I simply replied that Lewis and Bishop aren’t freshman. I never implied they will be the only 2.You think we are gonna head into the season with just them two ? I’m talking about the true freshman dummy
