SAN FRANCISCO: Shoplifting SKYROCKETS , Criminals Aren't Being Arrested Anymore, Stores CLOSING

Shoplifters Ruling the Roost at Big City Stores, Pharmacy Chains

Los Angeles was the top city affected by organized retail crime in 2020, following by Chicago, Miami, New York and San Francisco

A recent viral shoplifting incident has highlighted trends in parts of the country where offenders at local drugstores rule the roost – in one case, even able to ride through the store on a bike and take a garbage bag full of stolen good as shoppers, and security watched on.

Viral video from earlier this week showed a brazen man riding a bike through a San Francisco Walgreens store hauling apparently stolen goods as he zipped his way past shoppers, including a security guard who was filming the incident on his cell phone, before he left out the door. The footage was captured by local KGO-TV reporter Lyanne Melendez and garnered thousands of likes and comments.

Target, Walgreens Close early due to Thefts in California stores

Target and Walgreens are heightening security efforts in major cities across California amid increased theft and crime, new reports suggest.

Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento are among the cities with the most organized retail crime in the country, according to the California Retailer's Association. As a result, stores have been closing early or permanently shuttering.

Target stores in San Francisco are now closing early, moving from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a Financial District store closing as early as 5p.m. on Saturday, according to hours listed on its website. Most stores open between 7 and 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Target told KPIX5 the decision to adjust its store hours in San Francisco was related to theft with a spokesperson confirming: "For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores, similar to reports from other retailers in the area.

Operators in the grocery and retail industries have also raised concerns about harsher penalties for theft. A video surfaced from earlier this month showing a man stealing items in a San Francisco Walgreens and leaving the store on his bike with the goods as security guards and onlookers filmed the incident.

Walgreens, as a result, has also closed several stores with some security guards reportedly told not to engage with shoplifters.

An employee at a Los Angeles Rite Aid was killed Wednesday while attempting to stop a shoplifter from leaving the store, police said, as a series of brazen retail thefts have gone viral in recent months across the country.

The employee, identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as a man in his 20s, confronted the gunman and another suspect around 8:45 p.m. at a Rite Aid location in the Glassell Park neighborhood.

The suspects were trying to exit the store with stolen items at the time and one of them opened fire, the LAPD told Fox News.

The employee died at the scene and the suspects fled on foot, police said. No arrests have been made. The LAPD did not have a description of the suspects Friday. A police spokesman did not know if the store had a security guard present Wednesday night.

Two thieves brazenly rob TJ Maxx as rash of California shoplifting continues

Two men casually walked out of a Los Angeles area TJ Maxx with their arms full of what appears to be stolen goods as brazen shoplifters continue to rampage through California retail stores.

Viral video posted earlier this week shows two men strolling out of a TJ Maxx in the Granada Hills section of the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles.

‘That looks great,’ one man is heard saying in the video as he and the other thief head toward the door with the stolen loot.

One of the men appeared to be carrying an oversized duffle bag on his back.

According to police, the shoplifters are taking advantage of a new law that downgrades property theft of less than $950 to a misdemeanor.

‘They didn’t even run out, they walked out,’ Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz told CBS Los Angeles.

I wouldn't say country. It's where a majority minority live. Mainly urban areas.

Ah, the wonderful rewards of living under a pro-Biden/Harris Democrat life.
If arrested & hand-cuffed just tell the police you're a democrat & nothing happens to you.
The Biden/Harris administration protect the thugs & criminals who they see as victims. They will gladly bail you out & set you on your way to go out and do more of the same. No worries of jail time.

'Their hands are tied': San Francisco locals demand change to stop brazen crime

They're now gonna demand change from a dumbass liberal state that has no ears to hear.
Those citizens would be better off by moving out of the state then sitting around & waiting for their demands to become a reality. Governor Newsome & the different city councils in California cities rule as dictators. You know .... Rules for thee but NOT for me attitude. They don't live in crime areas & therefor crime doesn't effect them.

Retail association: Amazon, Facebook, eBay partly to blame for Shoplifting Crime Wave

'The favored place to Sell Their Stolen Goods is the online marketplaces,' an associaton official said

Organized retail crime continues to be a problem across the country. The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), a U.S. trade association for leading retailers, is calling on online marketplaces, including Amazon, eBay and Facebook, to do more to stop criminals from selling stolen products on their platforms.

"Criminals whose day job is to steal massive quantities of merchandise from retail stores" are then selling their product out in the open market for profit, Lisa LaBruno, RILA senior executive vice president of retail operations and innovation, told Fox News. "The favored place to sell their stolen goods is the online marketplaces."

Those online marketplaces are not doing enough to stop them, LaBruno told Fox News.

"We can’t arrest and prosecute ourselves out of this problem. The retailers are carrying their weight. They’re doing their level best to address this problem. Law enforcement is doing their best to address this problem. The other key stakeholder in this is the online marketplaces."

They need to do more to "proactively identify the folks who are selling stolen goods on their platform and shut them down," LaBruno, who heads RILA's asset protection department, told Fox News.

This is the classic case of voting stupity. It's the same behavior of citizens in 3rd world countries that keep them 3rd world countries and the citizens repressed. They just take it and keep voting for the same people. At some point you have to believe the majority of Californians love the way a broken broom handle feels up the butt. We have imported a population of commies to radicalize the usual idiots.

When these dumb asses realize that they're going to need a 1/2 hour bus ride to get to the nearest store they might wake up. By then they'll be in Pelosi's district and she won't tolerate any of this in her hood.

They don't care about that. Do people who shoot up the club care if the owner closes, the city shuts it down, or no one has anywhere to party?

Eventually, corporate woke culture will realize who they climbed in bed with and there’s no cure for what they caught.

No, corporate woke groups are fine with this. The gubment will bail them out. Ideologues don't care about real world issues.
