Marriott Sues franchisee for turning Queens Hotel Into Migrant Shelter

Marriott International has filed a $2.6 million federal lawsuit against a hotel in Queens for becoming a migrant shelter in violation of its franchise agreement.

The hotel chain claims the owners of the Pride Hotel in Jamaica had a 2015 deal with Marriott to operate a dual-branded Aloft and Element hotel at 149-03 Archer Avenue, according to the complaint filed last week in the Southern District of New York.

Marriott alleged the hotel’s owner, Pride Hospitality Group, made a “lucrative” agreement with the city to house migrants and asylum seekers “just months before” its slated Nov. 1 opening, after eight years of construction. In doing so, it broke the agreement and gave up the right to use Marriott branding.

He was previously arrested and released over at least three other thefts — both before and after the shameful Times Square police beatdown.

‘There’s No Space For Us’: Boston Authorities Oust Migrant Families From Sleeping Outside Subway Station

Massachusetts police ousted dozens of migrants from makeshift sleeping areas on concrete floors and benches outside a public transport station Monday, NBC10 reported.

The Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN) said a total of 47 migrants – half of the children – spent the night outside the Wollaston Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) station in Quincy, according to NBC10. Apparently, the situation unfolded because BIJAN, who had flipped the bill for hotel rooms for the migrants the last few nights, didn’t have sufficient funds to make further reservations, NBC10 reported. REVEALED: The Northeastern State That Won't Tell Voters About Its 'Secret' $1 Billion Spend On Migrants

Massachusetts Republicans have demanded the state's Democratic leaders come clean on their alleged '$1 billion in secret migrant crisis spending.'

The Bay State's GOP filed public records requests asking Gov. Maura Healey's administration to provide a detailed breakdown of spending on shelters, meals and other costs.

The request comes as Massachusetts scrambles to accommodate the roughly 50,000 non-legal migrants who've entered the state since President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

The Boston area has in recent weeks been roiled by outrage, after Stoughton school district cut bus services to local kids but kept them running for young migrants living in shelters.

Venezuelan Migrant accused of Several Thefts Released Without Bail — Again — after Vicious NYC sidewalk Robbery

A Venezuelan migrant with two open theft cases was arrested again for snatching a woman’s necklace off her body during a vicious sidewalk robbery — and then quickly cut loose by a Manhattan judge, The Post has learned.

Brian Castillos, 22, was arrested last Friday for the heist in Hell’s Kitchen, which he allegedly committed with another migrant man, Alexander Ayala, a repeat offender also accused of beating up two cops at a Manhattan shelter.

Authorities said Castillos and Ayala, 24, converged on the woman as she walked down 11th Avenue near 49th Street at about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12, with Castillos riding a bike up on the sidewalk and grabbing her necklace and purse before riding away.

The woman — who had a young child with her — told cops that her purse had two credit cards and a cellphone in it, according to the criminal complaint.

Castillos was hit with two counts of grand larceny, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and petit larceny, none of which are bail-eligible charges.

Migrant Grins as He's Jailed For A Year For Beating Cop in Times Square

A migrant convicted of beating a cop in Times Square grinned in court as a judge sentenced him to 12 months behind bars.

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel agreed to a plea deal for his involvement in a violent assault on two police officers on January 27.

Six associates were also arrested in relation to the crime, all of whom were migrants.

The crime was committed against a backdrop of increased migrant incarceration rates, with criminal justice insiders said to be furious by New York sanctuary city laws which prevent officers from working with ICE on cases involving illegal immigrants.

Initially, many of the suspects evaded custody. Some were re-arrested on different crimes and held behind bars amid a swell of outrage over the relaxed bail conditions that cut them loose.

Gomez-Izquiel had arrived in the United States just five months before he took part in this assault.
