Sanctuary State New York: Migrant Charged with Raping Woman in Front of Toddler

A Venezuelan national, who crossed the United States-Mexico border at some point, is now accused of raping a woman in front of a toddler in an Erie County, New York, hotel room.

Jesus D. Guzman Bermudez, a 26-year-old border crosser from Venezuela, has been arrested and charged in Erie County on one count of first-degree rape, one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of second-degree harassment.

According to prosecutors, Bermudez raped the woman on August 2 in a hotel room in Cheektowaga, New York, which sits in Erie County. Present in the room at the time, prosecutors allege, was a three-year-old child and the woman was known to Bermudez.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn (D) seemingly downplayed the alleged rape, telling local media that Bermudez is one of 500 border crossers who have been bused to the county from New York City recently as part of a plan carried out by Mayor Eric Adams (D).

Adams said the site, staff and maintenance costs will all be paid for with state funds after he reached an agreement with Governor Kathy Hochul to fund the facility.

Migrant Child Dies on Texas Border Bus to Chicago

A three-year-old migrant child died while being transported to Chicago, Illinois, aboard a bus sponsored by the State of Texas. The child died as the bus neared Salem, Illinois, late Thursday.

The child, believed to be from Venezuela, was transported from Brownsville, Texas, to Chicago with family members after being released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

According to a report by CBS, the child was taken to a hospital in Salem after suffering a medical emergency in Marion County. According to a statement by the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM), when the child presented with health concerns, the bus driver pulled over, and on-board security personnel called 9-1-1 for emergency assistance.

Once released to pursue asylum claims while inside the United States, the family unit voluntarily accepted transportation provided by the state to Chicago. Each passenger on the bus underwent a temperature check and was questioned about medical conditions that could require assistance. According to state officials, none of the passengers had a fever or other medical issues at embarkation.

Second Migrant Part of Adams Resettlement Program Charged For Sexually Assaulting Woman

The National Guard has been deployed to western New York after a second migrant brought there through New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ controversial resettlement program was arrested on sexual abuse charges.

Erie County officials charged that a third party contracted by New York City to handle the migrant hotel operation might have obstructed local police’s investigations into the assaults, and are demanding that the Biden administration and Congress act at the federal level to properly address the crisis.

At a press conference Saturday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, a Democrat, said no more asylum seekers would be sent from New York City until security measures involving the migrants could improve. He said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a fellow Democrat, agreed to place National Guard members at each of the hotels housing asylum seekers to act as a "stabilizing presence."

That’s after a 27-year-old woman from Buffalo who was working at the hotel as employed by Platinum Community Care – one of the agencies providing services to the asylum seekers – walked into the Cheektowaga Police Department at approximately 4 p.m. Friday to report she had been sexually assaulted.

Embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams is reportedly turning to the abandoned hellhole prison where Jeffrey Epstein killed himself as a solution to housing the relentless influx of migrants being bussed into the Big Apple.

The mayor has scrambled for months to find space for at least 58,000 asylum seekers who have been shuttled to the city from states such as Texas after they crossed the southern border.

If Governor Kathy Hochul approves his request, refugees mainly from South America will find themselves in a facility with a morbid history plagued by allegations of rat infestations and sewage floods.

It remains to be seen if Adams will successfully move migrants into the cells, however, after his attempt earlier this year to shift asylum seekers to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal fell apart when the refugees refused to go.

New York Bail Law Freed Illegal Alien Wanted by Feds, Now Accused of Rape

New York’s bail reform law freed from jail an illegal alien wanted by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a prior conviction, who is now accused of savagely raping a woman in Delaware County.

Cruz Garcia, a 43-year-old illegal alien, was arrested this week and charged with second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and first-degree rape.

According to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, on July 25, Garcia strangled a woman while raping her. The woman, police said, nearly lost consciousness at the time of the sexual assault.

Garcia allegedly raped the woman after having been released from jail in Orange County, New York, less than two months prior. In that case, Garcia was charged with drunk driving and driving without a license.

Kathy Hochul Calls for Biden to Intervene in New York Immigrant Crisis

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) asked President Joe Biden on Thursday to provide federal resources to New York amid the migrant crisis facing the city.

In a letter, Hochul requested the federal government help provide funding for education, transportation, healthcare, and housing assistance for more than 100,000 asylum-seekers who have flocked to the city since last spring.


The governor claimed part of the costs associated with the crisis were all the necessities the city and state had to provide, including transportation, food, and lodging. Hochul said the only thing stopping the immigrants in New York City from getting work was red tape from the federal government, which has fallen behind on approving work authorizations.

Texas Sends 10th Migrant Bus To Los Angeles After Mayor Decries Move As 'political act'

Texas has sent a 10th bus with migrants to Los Angeles on Saturday, days after its mayor harshly criticized the southern state for sending migrants.

According to FOX Los Angeles, the bus had a total of 39 migrants, which included 12 families and 21 children.

The 10th bus was sent five days after the previous bus, according to the outlet.


Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott when the ninth bus was sent when Tropical Storm Hillary was impacting the city, saying "LA has not extended an invitation asking for people to come. This is a political act."

The Los Angeles City Council voted in June to make the city a sanctuary city for immigrants.

On Tuesday, Bass again condemned Abbott for sending the buses.

"This evening, Los Angeles received another bus from Texas. That means that while we were urging Angelenos to stay safe, the Governor of Texas was sending a bus with families and toddlers straight towards us KNOWING they’d have to drive right into an unprecedented storm," Bass tweeted on X. "Evil."

A protest against New York City's handling of the migrant crisis resulted in protesters on both sides getting involved in a violent clash outside of Gracie Mansion on Sunday.

Former New York City mayoral candidate and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa was one of the main speakers at the protest and one of the many arrested as Trump supporters and pro-migrant protesters fought, with punches thrown.

Sliwa spoke out against his former opponent, Democrat Mayor Eric Adams, who has opened over 200 shelters across the five boroughs to try and house the 100,000 who have arrived in the Big Apple from the southern border.

'These migrants have jumped the queue,' Sliwa said. 'If I were a migrant and you gave me an opportunity to jump the queue and stay in a hotel, give me three square meals … - basically give me more than homeless people born in America have or veterans who are down on their luck have - you're damn right they're gonna keep coming.'
