lol

dude its 3 am and half the time i'm on here i'm doing multiple things.

and the problem with your idea is, well it's stupid and not plausible, because 99% of this countries population is lazy and will not take the time to do so because they haven't done it yet.

my crew speaks with about 8,000 spanish speaking mexicans a day, yes per day, and 80% of them cannot speak a lick of english. I have a special que that is able to speak spanish and the calls have to be routed there. it's reality.

gutless means the democrats dont have the balls to tell the mexicans to learn english and the republicans dont have the balls to tell the whites to learn spanish.

that clear enough for you?

I don't know what cave you've been living in, but all high schools teach Spanish, most also have French, and some have German.

All Bachelor's degree programs require 2 years of those in high school and another 2 years while getting your degree.

Many entry level jobs are required to accommodate Spanish speaking employees.

Your generation is hit or miss, but the vast majority of the younger generations are going to be bilingual.

It's not about lacking guts... it's about refraining from idiocy.

1. Many Mexicans are bilingual. I worked with tons back in the day. Perhaps the Mexicans you came across had no desire to converse with you.

2. 2 years was plenty of time, as it laid the foundation. Like any skill, it takes practice and frequent application to master.

My high school even had Latin, along with Spanish, French, and German.

Santorum is pushing me away with "Conservative Progressive" stuff like this. He sounds like another "big gov't conservative" with this and the thing about porn.

Let freedom decide what language we speak. Let the free market decide how to accomplish that. The problem is STILL that gov't is involved in all sorts of things (education, charity, corporate welfare, union support, etc) that it shouldn't be in.

NEOCON, buddy you should be thankful for the Mexicans. They work and produce part of the wealth we need to support the gov't dependents created by the left. Without their labors, we'd be much worse off than we are...

And even though I think immigration should be ONLY legal and greatly streamlined, the illegals make a contribution that WAY too many "poor" Americans WILL NOT DO. Our entitlement mentality has created a whole class of "poor" who can afford to turn their noses up at work.

bilingual means fluent, not able to say a few words and struggle through a conversation.

The fact that driver's license test offer spanish shows not as many are bilingual as you would like to make it seem.

I don't think I have ever seen a candidate completely destroy their chances of winning over a particular people quite like Santorum did. He must not care about the Hispanic vote all too much.

Does your wife speak fluent English?

yes.

but filipinos, due to their culture and love of all things american, normally speak very well or close to very well. this is the reason there are so many call centers there.

The problem most 3rd world nations have is that the country speaks multiple languages and not everyone can understand each other.

This creates issues in the work force and trade.

There must be a language that everyone can speak in a country for the country to properly functions. If not, the country will fall into smaller segmented groups and stopping functioning as a whole.

While this is true, there is also a reason why a "third world country*" or better said, a "developing country" is a "developing country."

There are quite a few examples of "first world" or "developed" countries with multiple official languages as well to prove that what happens in "underdeveloped nations" doesn't necessarily mean it will happen in a "developed nation." I think the most obvious example is our neighbors to the north. Canada officially recognizes both French and English. About 23% of the Canadian population speaks French as its daily language.

*Third World does not necessarily mean that a country is poor or not developed. Third World means they were neutral during the Cold War. First World refers to the US and all its allies and the Second World refers to the Soviets and its allies

More examples of countries that are first world and have a mixture of multi-lingual people? Pretty much all of Western Europe... Norway, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, etc etc, all speak their native languages, plus english, along with some mix of the other surrounding languages.
