Here's a crazy thought . . . I think Santorum is in a better position to debate Obama than Romney.
He needs to tighten up his interviews if he is going to compete with Obama.
I remain frustrated at the inability of these candidates to clearly articulate their positions. Hopefully that will improve once the eventual nominee has nothing to focus on but Obama's record.
I actually agree. Anything romney criticizes obama for can be turned back on him, because chances are hes probably supported the same thing at some point
Exactly . . . and then Obama will turn Romney into a living billboard as he rants about effective tax rates, millionaires and obfuscates on personal tax rates vs. cap gains.
Funny that you brought up 2004 because that's exactly the type of campaign Santorum will run. Bush didn't appeal to independents, Karl Rove shoveled red meat at the base. That leaves all the GOP candidates between a rock and a hard place, then. There's that with Romney, Newt is damaged goods at this point and Santorum is palatable by most of the base but I don't see how he's going to pick up enough independent voters to have a chance.
I know I've said this before, but this is reminding me more and more of the '04 election with the roles reversed, when Democrats were saying "W should have been the easiest incumbent ever to beat, and John Kerry, Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich are the best we come up with?!"
