Good point. In that case, this might have been an appropriate response:
"Katie, I'm the executive of the largest state in the country - you don't think I stay informed? Here's how it works. I get briefed every single morning by a staff who pores through dozens of news sources to make sure I'm up to date on the most important issues for the state of Alaska. In a given day, I could read reports from the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall St. Journal, Time, Newsweek, the Economist, and of course our local papers in Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage. I wish I could sit down and read papers and magazines like others do, but I simply don't have time. I am fortunate, however, to have such a reliable staff to keep me up to date. That's how I stay informed."
