:lolabove:"About 20 minutes into tonight's debate, Governor Sarah Palin demonstrated bipartisan appeal in endorsing Senator Biden's call for bankruptcy protections for primary residences. When Senator Biden called for bankruptcy shelter and suggested that Governor Palin likely opposed those protections, Gwen Ifill asked, "Governor Palin, is that so?" The Governor responded, "That is not so."
Both Senators Biden and Obama have supported the "Helping Families Save Their Homes in Bankruptcy Act", which would close the loophole in current federal bankruptcy law that prevents primary residences from have their mortgages restructured by federal bankruptcy judges. Currently, second homes, seventh homes, and yachts are eligible for such restructuring, but not primary residences that are being lost at a record pace in the current foreclosure crisis.
ACORN welcomes Governor Palin's endorsement of this important provision, and hopes that this high-profile endorsement will encourage Senator McCain to change his mind and support this necessary change to assist America's struggling homeowners.
Biden can definitely outdrink Palin. His across the aisle talk was mostly about the package store. He struggles with the huge debates about liquor v beer. He finds that question much more compelling than roe v wade (cause he ain't into fish eggs and he ain't walking into the water).
I think we see now the bigger picture on the Palin pick. First, she appeals to and energizes the base. Second, she is a real threat to take some of the women who would have voted for Clinton. Third, she can go on the attack against Obama and any counterattack can be deflected as sexist or mean.
As long as they keep her away from any environment where she gets questioned too closely, she can fulfill all of those roles well.
Heard some speculation this morning on both Fox and MSNBC that Palin might actually start to get some ideas about her own future in 2012 and that she at some point might not be willing to go too far in the Obama attacks for fear of endangering that. Interesting.

I thought Obama handled himself well and answered the questions directly even when dealing with someone confrontational in O'Reilly. You might not have liked his answers -- I get that and some of them I didn't care for, myself -- but in terms of presence and ability to stand his ground, you don't really have much of an argument there.
O'Reilly was being about 2% as confrontational as he normally is.
