Sarah Palin=Ronald Reagan

she's not expanding the role of the office. She was simply answering a stupid question about a figurehead position.

Are you pretending that Obama knows anything about energy independence or any way to move in that direction? Hint: he believes the government is the solution to everything, which means he has a snowball's chance in hell of moving us even remotely toward that end.

I do believe Government is going to have to spearhead a movement towards energy independence. While I like Obama's independence in 10 years plan, I do not believe he can do it, although it would be nice to at least start moving in that direction.

No. I called you an elitist for you stupid "folksy" comment.

You must be an angry person since everyone and their mother is saying that. What would you rather me say "joe six pack" or would that be elitist since you probably only drink two beers a night?

–noun 1. practice of or belief in rule by an elite.
2. consciousness of or pride in belonging to a select or favored group.

The whole elitist thing is a tired argument. It's in the eye of the beholder. McCain and Palin look as much elitist to me as Biden or Obama look to you.

Yea, I've seen plenty of the left wing media rags use it, their intent and context is the same as yours.

I am middle class. I make around 50 my wife is still in school and doesn't really work.

We live within our means and I do not feel squeezed.

I'm sorry but I feel no sympathy for people who don't budget their own finances, live outside their means, want the gov't to fix their problems and are looking for hand outs.

Anyone who believes Obama is going to provide all these new programs while giving 95% tax breaks is dreaming.
Wouldn't it take atleast 60 votes in the senate to pass any federal tax legislation?

Bush was suppose to be expert on oil/energy. I didn't see any leadership from him on this issue.

Palin was governor of Alaska for a year with a background in sports jounalism and being a mayor. I don't see that makes her an oil/energy expert.

You're sayng you watched last night and cannot figure out where Palin stands on issues?

Palin impresses me because she is almost on the verge of actually saying how uninvolved the government should be in so many of the matters it is currently involved in. She also does not come across as an elitist, unlike you.

Name the areas you want the federal government to back out of. Yeah, lets dereg the banks even more. LOL. Lets get rid of FEMA too, while we are at it.

I will agree there are areas the government should not be involved in, however, I don't think Palin has ANY clue as to what those might be.

you've got to be kidding me.

Mr Bush's energy proposals, made in 2001, have been stalled in the Senate due to Democrats' objections over a measure allowing drilling in Alaska's wildlife reserve and some of the tax incentives for producers added by congressional Republicans.

you also don't know much about Palin if you think she went straight from a sports reporter to governor of Alaska.

Education
Energy
Housing

Those would be some great starts.

If I'm not mistaken it was government intervention that started the chain of events that lead to this economic situation we find ourselves in now. Many from both parties warned of the events we see now, nobody did anything.

Bottom line is the problem was perpetuated by government, allowed to continue by government, and even supported by many of those in power (some to this very day), yet somehow you believe the same government who failed us here should regulate those affairs? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I agree but what entity has the power to establish and enforce boundries on people who have access to huge money if not the government?

Bottom line is had the government not have told Fannie and Freddie they would back up questionable loans (it was part of the equal housing agenda) those institutions would not have made those risky loans they knew had a good chance of losing them money. Had the government not stepped in and mandated bad loans for equal housing the ball would have never started rolling and our economy would not be where it is.

So if Bush is an expert on oil, where is the leadership on this issue? Gas has been at an all time high since he's been in office, and there are gas shortages now in the southeast. Where is the leadership then?

Palin was governor for 1 year, mayor for 1 term, and city councilwoman for a couple of terms, and a sports reporter and jounalism major before that. Again when did she become an energy expert with that background?

Translation: She has no degree from Harvard.

You honestly think Biden came off a bad debate? I know you hate the guy but nothing he did impressed you?

I just realized its in another thread but I gave props to Palin for it being her first national debate and she will connect with quite a few undecideds. Overall she had a good performance as did Biden, I am now attacking her merits.
I don't care enough about Biden to hate him. What I know of him is that he is a heavily drinking career liberal politician with a penchant for saying stupid things. I don't think he did poorly last night, but he could have slammed the door on McCain with a beatdown of Palin.

the gov't is not going to resolve this issue. The capital markets will ultimately resolve it.

Any elected official pretending that they are going to lead on the energy issue is full of it. Palin's full of it as is Obama.

Palin was elected Gov in '07? That's an odd year for an election.

She is a gimmick and a show. If the governor from another random state like Hawaii was named and was a man who had only served for 10 months they would be saying it was an awful pick. They coached her up pretty well to sound semi coherent on the debate but she doesnt know what she believes in. It seemed like her ideals and McCains where sown together and she is getting mixed up

She is a gimmick.

As is any politician who tells you he or she is for the "average American". If you support Obama you do realize you have been sold the ultimate gimmick? A "Hope and change" bumper sticker!

That is because she is the VP! A VP candidates job is to mirror their #1's principles! Biden is doing the same thing.

Just so you know I am a long time Republican who is just sick of the BS. She is just as much of a show as Obama is and its making me sick that the Republican party is doing the same crap.
