Saturday 4/5 Scrimmage

Agree, the lack of a LT stepping up is ominous for trying to get our passing game resurrected.

It's obviously all part of Butch's plan. We allow them to break free into the backfield, opening up and endless stream of back-breaking screens to Devrin and Wharton. Duh!

You can bet your left nut there are dozens of folks on this site who still believe its Dobbs or bust. They refuse to believe that the only reason he played last season was because he was the only 1 healthy...and that he was #4 at season start. Where is he now? #4. Maybe #3? I know he can run fast. We have Lane, Hurd, Young, Pickett, and about a half dozen receivers to do that. We need someone to throw the damn ball. Its really that simple. If we have a 1 dimensional run only offense behind a rookie OL we go 6-6 or 5-7 again. Butch and 90% of VN. "Get this".

True very true, but if the o line is as bad as it was today, it doesn't matter who plays QB.

Worries me that we might not be able to get the ball to a very talented group of receivers????

I hope by fall, that will have changed......PLEASE!!!

Don't think Riley had a rough day at all....this is from Daniel Lewis....

• Ferguson and Worley got the most work at quarterback and those two split most of the first-team reps as well. Ferguson, with the exception of the INT, had the best effort overall on Saturday, making several perfect throws and creating some plays with his feet.

Hmm I missed that somehow, had to rush through. Good to hear, I'm rooting for him.

Looks like Worley is starting to separate himself a bit. I just pray he will be able to run the read option more effectively next season.

He is just not fast enough to run the read option, he can run it, but it wont be to hard to defend.

Worley is the slowest QB on the team, Dobbs is the fastest, Peterman and Ferguson are about the same.

Having been there I absolutely do not think Worley looked the best. I think both Dobbs and Fergy looked killer with Fergy having some really nice passes. Although at this point I think any of those three would be serviceable in the offense. Also I thought North and Pearson looked great as well as Josh Smith. Malone and Hurd looked a little green. Malone dropped some passes and Hurd got tackled easily and even fumbled once in the redzone. As a whole though our team, especially our defense looked extremely promising.

I can't wait for the rest of the recruiting class to get in and see the full product on the field! Go VOLS!!

Due to weakness in the trenches and the brutal schedule they play , this team goes 5-7 or at best 6-6 this season. A 4-8 season would not surprise me. Not being negative but just being realistic. I hope fans realize this program is still at least another year or two away from being able to compete with the upper echelon of the SEC
I agree. Hope the recruiting stays up...

I don't think that's the case gunner.

That's what I was told by a high school coach who has been at the clinic all week. Says that's the word from the UT coaches. But, who really knows until you see them line up together and run against each other.

I agree. He has proven that he can beat the SEC's best with the USC,jr. win. Having said that, I don't care bc I just want the qb that will give us the best chance.

Starting Worley is the logical choice, he is battle tested in the SEC and has looked the best all spring in practice. The biggest problem with Worley is his lack of arm strength. But, he is the most accurate passer on the team.

Haven't read anywhere that Worley is the most accurate passer. Have read that he very good command of the offense, is making much better throws than last year, is making very good decisions, has been very efficient the last week of practice. But I've not read anywhere that he's the most accurate passer.

I really hate to agree, but after listening to Swain yesterday, I came away thinking the same thing. It appears we're gonna have a walkon playing left tackle and that the prize JUCO left tackle of this class has a very, very, very long way to go.....as in, he's losing his 1 on 1 blocking battles straight up, before all the issues of communication, understanding blocking schemes within the offense, handling stunts and twists, etc, ever come into play. #ConcernedInNashville

Are we still running the read-option with QBs who don't run?

Sounds like the OL is going to be....well, you know.

A high school coach? Who's been there since Thursday? Well that definitely settles it.

No. I said all week, and I will take the word of a high school football coach over a media type anytime.

If you don't believe me then ask yourself who do you think the coaches on UT's staff respect more, a high school football coach or a media type that writes generic articles about the Vols for the masses.

You take your high school coach. I'll take a beat writer who's been around the program for years, is used to evaluating college players, has seen all of these QBs for multiple months now and has a much greater sample size than 2-3 practices. Jmo.
