I would have replied earlier, but this is the first time I have been online since Saturday afternoon. After dropping GAVol's giddy little tail off at his hotel last night, I came straight home and went to bed.(Of course if we had won, I'm sure I would have found a way to stay awake and get online).
I do congratulate you on your win. Carolina made some devastating errors in the first quarter, but good teams like UT take advantage of their opponents mistakes. It seemed like Tennessee could do no wrong and were always in the right place at the right time to make us pay. Ainge looked good. Hefney is yet another SC native that comes back to Columbia to haunt us. Unbelievable punt return. Just plain sick. Tennessee earned the victory and that's all there is to it.
I can't wait until we can do more than put scares into our opponents (and yes Vol Nation, admit it, there were times your butt tightened up last night). I have been a Carolina fan for my entire life. I will always pull for my team. I thank you all for your unsolicited remarks about "WCG being a classy guy." That's cool. I enjoy visiting this board. I take my duties as the "Gamecock Ambassador" very seriously.
In response to freak's blast about the bottle throwing, remember,
ALL schools, without exception, have bad fans. Out of 82,011 fans, I guess there were 20 or so bottles thrown, and most were from the student section. That is a very small percentage, and the majority of Carolina fans including me were embarrassed by it. I don't think Carolina fans are any worse than others. I have to stand up for my fan base. There are classless fans in every group.
Heck, ask GAVol about the UT fan that got up in our face and went on a drunken diatribe about anything and everything that he could attach an f-bomb to. Or the fan at the UT/Florida game that had F@*% Fla. painted on his chest.
Then there was the man I met from Oklahoma last night that played for UT about 30 years ago. A super guy. I think fans are what you make of them. There are good and bad in every crowd.
Let's just keep this in mind and let me be the first to welcome any of you back to Columbia. There are a lot of good people here, most of whom are not wielding half-filled bottles.
