I wouldn't say he's a program changer, but he was the most talented qb we had on last year's team as a true freshman.

Who is advertising him that way? 1vol8 has a personal relationship with him and believes in him. A lot of us saw hints of his potential. I haven't seen anyone say he is the savior of the program.

UT has a lot of talent coming in behind JG. Whether this year or next, UT can look forward to better QB play.

Yeah he was a legit 4.5/4.6 guy coming out of high school

I like Maurer. If he improves from last year, I will be happy. I'm not expecting anything major, just some better decision making, if that happens, well, I think he will get a chance. Especially knowing JG's history. What he does with that chance will probably decide whether or not, Maurer finishes his college career at UT, or not. That includes just being QB2, if HB redshirts or JG shows out (which I doubt, but would be ecstatic if he did)

The best passing performance in the past 3 years was Maurer's first half against UGA. Maurer The only two GAMES where JG has passed for more yardage was against a 6-6 Mizzou team and an 8-5 Auburn team... not a 12 win championship contender with the SEC's #1 D (#3 nationallly).

Better decision making = not throwing into triple coverage. If Maurer stops making bone headed throws he'll do very well. I love his mobility and his release.

And better route runner, most of the time those guys ran a fly route. Today's game has changed a lot. I believe this young man has all the tools. Pray that he stays health.
