It's not a rabbit hole, the FBI is under the auspices of the executive branch and under the judicial when prosecuting.

no ones arguing that people who need to hear the answers shouldn't get answers - some things, especially ones that are present in ongoing investigations and prosecutions shouldn't be available to the public.
