Schiano Sunday

Took a 3 win team and won 9…that’s RESULTS not overhype.
That had the foundational talent in place due to the guy that was there before him. That's the key. He's good, for sure. But he has shown nothing yet in his career to say that he is an A tier coach (mostly due to a short HC resume). This was a bad hire from a risk perspective, but it might work out. Time will tell.

We ended up with a shittier human being and coach with Pruitt....
Pruitt is definitely not a "shittier human being" than Schiano. His worst crime was being much worse at cheating than Saban and Kirby. But the players liked him and he seemed to genuinely care about them.

Schiano is a complete and total p.o.s.

Mark Richt and everyone there may disagree with you...

Wanting to bring Rush Probst here may contradict what you are saying...

His exit from FSU...

There were the rumors of him canoodling with college girls at FSU, and him being an absolute A-hole to coworkers as a general rule. Rumors about him showing up Drunk at Richt's house wanting to get into it.

Cut’s last 3 seasons 5…2… then 3 total wins each. Gotta FIX “foundations” like that or you don’t have a home anymore.

My two biggest problem with Schiano were 1. It took him ten years to turn Rutgers around his first stint. No way would he get half that time here. 2. If you remember his Tampa Bay team mutinied on him. That's a big red flag for me.
When the buccaneers mutiny you know something is wrong?

As I said, the foundational talent was there. I didn't claim the results were at the end.
RESULTS are what you judge. Bob Stoops won his only NC with what John Blake left him. 190 wins later, you think history credits Blake’s 12 career wins as FOUNDATIONAL?

I don't know anything about what Bob Stoops did with John Blake's players. Don't even know who John Blake is, nor do I care.
But you know who Bob Stoops is…right? So it’s what you do with the “foundation” not who laid it. Allz I’m saying.

This is just my prediction and opinion (so not saying anyone else's opinion is incorrect or wrong) - I could see Stoops going back to KY for one year and then taking over at Iowa. I think Kirk Ferentz gets one more year and gets to 200+ wins with Iowa (not career wins). Iowa may not be a premier job but its his alma mater could be a good fit.
And a lot easier to win 10 games and sneak into to the playoffs at Iowa than it's going to be in the SEC with Texas and OU joining up.

Great assessment and probably could come to fruition.

It appears he has had tremendous success at Rutgers. This proves the media correct as we are worse off without him.
To be fair, Rutgers was in a terrible spot when he took over and getting them back to 6-6 is admirable, though not impressive.

He also repeatedly lied to his team at Tampa Bay and the players thought he was a complete scumbag.

His only real "success" at Rutgers was just convincing "Jersey kids" that they should play for a "Jersey guy" at Rutgers (when most of the top NJ recruits would go places like Penn State, Syracuse, Maryland, Ohio State, etc. before). That sell literally doesn't work anywhere else. Probably doesn't even work at Rutgers any more with NIL money elsewhere.

This is short-sighted though. We ultimately ended up with Heup.

Had we hired Schiano, he's probably still employed here and we're still getting excited if we just have a "winning season"

Hitting ( so far) on the Heup hire doesn't change fact that Pruitt was one of the worst hires in SEC history...

Literally anyone else from that cycle would have been better

Wish those threads were still available , remember that (imo) plant from somewhere in the university that was on here talking him up ? He was the ONLY person on here that was doing it and the first source that I ever heard of that he was an actual candidate. After that day that screename never posted again…
