Schiano Sunday

Schiano, as a GA, followed the university and NCAA protocol by telling his boss, Tom Bradley. Bradley and Paterno decided not to pursue and to cover up....

(And that is all based 25 year third party hearsay from McQueary's depo)

Did Schiano meet a moral obligation (if the depo was true)? Absolutely not
And just like that you’ve proven he’s a bigger POS than Pruitt. Proven I guess is a strong word but you cannot have a coach with those kinds of possible skeletons in their closet as a head coach at a major program.

Schiano would’ve done a better job than Pruitt and we wouldn’t have had the McDonald bags fiasco.
You have no idea if that’s true or not. And to boot if more evidence came out that Schiano knew more about what happened at Penn State it’s a much bigger black eye on the program.

Assuming for arguments sake that 25 year old 3rd person hearsay is 100% accurate isn't proving anything.

I agree with you that the reward in hiring Schiano wasn't worth the unknown risk of something more substantiated and damning coming out....

There was enough football reasons to pass on him.

There’s way more evidence that Schiano is a POS than that instance.

Fair point. All of that went into my point that any reward from Schiano wasn't worth the risk.

And to be fair, there were enough ethical and personality red flags that we chose to ignore with Pruitt

loved that day, tbh i was just happy most of the fan based didnt want schiano as badly as i didnt want schiano. To me it was never about the penn state stuff, it was about going at peytons knees, leaking josh freemans medicals, keeping nfl scouts in a tiny press box miles away from practice at rutgers, coaching at ohio state in general, never liked him and i was very pleased with the riot

One of the best things ever that happened to Tennessee, unfair to ShiaNO haha whatever coaches are mercenaries and glad he’s pissed off still at Tennessee

Completely absurd statement. It was the most embarrassing episode in the history of the UT athletic department--and it resulted in the hiring of Pruitt, who was not only a lousy coach but also got us sanctioned by the NCAA. Yea, that was a "best thing," alright.

Oddly enough, they were all silent when OSU didn’t hire him as HC a few years ago. I never figured out why not, if he was the man and coach they said he was when UT didn’t hire him.
Ironic, eh?

Yea, ask OSU fans how they feel about that decision now that the buckeyes have lost three straight to Michigan....

So we all know about David's transgressions with Bethsheeba. Well, he knocked her up, pretty much had her husband killed, and Nathan called him out for it. Well, to pay for the transgressions, the child died. However, they had another win named Solomon, who finished the Temple and became one of the wisest men to ever live. Now, Solomon done many foolish things that called strife as well.

So, in other words, something great can come from something very bad. Heupel just needs to stick with the Temple building, and don't do stupid stuff. If that happens, we will be fine.

The UTAD deserved the reaction they got for 4 straight bargain bin hires. Fans were ticked and the PSU stuff put enough gas on that fire...

The biggest mistake from Schiano Sunday was Phil sliding into the AD chair...

This is just my prediction and opinion (so not saying anyone else's opinion is incorrect or wrong) - I could see Stoops going back to KY for one year and then taking over at Iowa. I think Kirk Ferentz gets one more year and gets to 200+ wins with Iowa (not career wins). Iowa may not be a premier job but its his alma mater could be a good fit.
Iowas has really low expectations AND you don't have to play Tennessee and UGA with some LSU/Bama sprinkled in their yogurt Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Minnesota etc....COME ON a good coach can get 9-3 or 8-4 every flipper year

Let’s beat this dead horse one more time. If you poll UT fans, I guarantee that 75 to 80% will say that Schiano wasn’t a good fit. Not glad that they hired Pruitt but you can lay that one directly at the feet of Phil Fulmer. Water under the bridge now.

For what It’s worth (and it ain’t much), Pat Forde took another shot at UT for not hiring Schiano in a Sports Illustrated article today. Called it a “disingenuous” connection to the Paterno situation. Frankly I didn’t know he was smart enough to know the meaning of that word. He said at least Texas A&M was honest about backing away and now he’s the one being disingenuous. Bottom line is that fan and booster revolts caused both situations. Period.

The fans don't have to revolt at all if you select a coach that they have some respect for. The mess does not originate with the fans. Let's be clear.

We agree fully on that point. UT trying to hire Schiano and the Aggies thinking about Stoops caused the same reaction. Both were mistakes that many boosters and most fans couldn’t stomach. Neither “revolt” would have been needed if the powers that be had been thinking at all.

But it eventually led to Heupel.
