I lived in the Houston area for 12 years (2010-2022). I worked for a Houston based company for 18 years prior to that. I have a lot of friends that are A&M fans and have zero issue with any of them. There are several past and present co-workers, acquaintances, and the like that I can't say the same about. There are a few, but nowhere where near as many as the A&M friends.

Additionally, the hospitality that I was shown when I attend the Vols vs. A&M game was the best I have ever been treated as an opposing fan.

Sure, most every coach is poached from another school, but the allegation here is that Schloss knew he was coming to Texas for quite some time and has been secretly recruiting players there. That is a whole different story.

Also, Danny White acknowledged in the introductory presser that he did not want to bring Heupel with him so as not to impact the UCF program, but that ultimately he identified JH as the best option and he had to make the best hire for his new institution, even if it was not his preference.

Kinda feel for em a little. I’ve got nothing against A&M when we aren’t playing them, and I remember all to well how it feels to have your coach jump ship, take the star players and staff with him. Took us until the hiring of Heupel to recover.

It was the bending of rules to steal players that had already signed with us that burnt all bridges with Kiffin as far as I am concerned. It's one thing to leave for another job. It's completely different if you try to burn down the future of your former employer. Stealing signed recruits of your former employer is a dick move. Kiff did it to us when there was no portal. That scum was throwing shade at us after we lost that first game. I'm so glad we won.

I live in the heart of the aerospace industry and my neighborhood is infested with Aggies. You’re right, overwhelmingly, they are really good, decent people. They’re also intelligent sports fans. They know and love college baseball as good as any fan base I know.

I said this in another thread, I don’t believe the deal was locked up. Maybe Schloss was trying to leverage the Longhorns offer into a huge raise and more control at a&m. Knowing what we know now, that botched interview sounds to me like he was trying to sell himself to the Aggies decision makers. But they didn’t budge and it backfired terribly.

I have long listened to people talk. I have been trained to listen to what they say. Not the emotion or the manipulation, but the actual word choice. Many people, not all, were taught since childhood that lying is bad. As such, they subconsciously choose their words to not lie when they don't, or can't, tell the truth.

The minute I saw Schloss' presser, I picked up on his word choice.
I turned to my wife and said, "Holy Crow, the A&M coach is going to Texas!!!!"

See it?

It hadn't changed in his mind. He knew it had changed in his reality. He was still trying to figure out how and when to express it to the rest of the country, and he wasn't ready to do it in the presser. He wasn't mad at having his loyalty questioned. He was mad that he hadn't come up with the answer by the time he was asked about it.

Best training tip I ever received: Listen to what people actually say. They will tell you what they mean. Don't fill in the blanks for them, then you are listening to what you want them to say, not what they actually say.

I can’t find the tweet anymore, it disappeared off my timeline, but some A&M beat writer was saying Schloss apparently had a burner phone and was actively recruiting for Texas while still coaching A&M during June. If so, that is a whole new level of scum.
