Schlossnagle to Texas!!

He took everyone with him. 100% pre-planned. I did find his ho hum attitude a bit strange. Like when we came back to take game 2 he was just kinda like “welp, I guess we will play a game 3 now”.

Yeah...the deal was done between their series with UGA and before the start of the regionals. So it was probably done and signed at the end of April or middle of May. Dude is a snake.

Well then, that explains quite a bit. I told my husband when game 3 started, Schloss is gone, just by looking at the way he acted, body language. Wasn’t completely sure about Wiener, but I thought he had a demeanor to him also. Looks like everyone knew except the players. Just another dagger in a&m’s back from the longhorns.
I’ve watched the championship game twice since Monday, the last time just to get a sense of the A&M players and staff. 100% Schloss and his guys knew it was happening, well before the first game.

The interesting part to me is to watch the players. The older guys or the ones likely to head to the draft seemed upset and playing with some emotion. Now go back and watch the younger guys with some eligibility left. Very much a mirror of Schloss and associates demeanor. Watch them follow the snake to Texas.

Gives some credence to the rumors that most of the players had to learn from social media and couldn’t get any face time with the coach after the loss.

Kinda feel for em a little. I’ve got nothing against A&M when we aren’t playing them, and I remember all to well how it feels to have your coach jump ship, take the star players and staff with him. Took us until the hiring of Heupel to recover.
They had to be discussing this for the last 2 weeks while they were playing in the CWS. I don't know if that took away from their coaching responsibilities or not, they probably don't think it did, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Everyone is out for #1 now that huge money is involved.

Oh and now the rumor is he and Tony were contacted to gauge interest back in April! Tony told them no but Schloss agreed as long has he could bring his staff. His assistant coaches were in on it and supposedly have been recruiting for TX for weeks. He also only informed some of the underclass players about it to convince them to come with them. The upperclassman had no idea. This Aggie insider found out about this from some of the players parents. This story is wild.

As someone who has a degree from Texas, I felt embarrassed about this for a few seconds, but then I remembered that I don’t care about Texas anymore because I’m all Vol, and then I felt a lot better!

I can’t find the tweet anymore, it disappeared off my timeline, but some A&M beat writer was saying Schloss apparently had a burner phone and was actively recruiting for Texas while still coaching A&M during June. If so, that is a whole new level of scum.

That would be a pretty high risk move there. Lots of opportunity for leaks from kids and family.

If true agree that's pretty scummy. Right up there with Kiff and Ogre in the Tennessee locker room telling our recruits not to sign.

Think you’re talking about this one, most of it is in the comments

What a scum****, and what a bad look for the SEC. Stealing entire programs from other schools, skirting the edges of poaching players even in new NIL era, colluding to keep everything secret, where does it end?

Feel more grateful than ever that Tony is here.

Hold on a minute though. Tennessee took Josh Heupel (and some of the staff) from UCF, Kellie Harper (and staff) from Missouri State, Kim Caldwell (and staff) from Marshall. We even took Danny White from UCF. I'm certain that there are more, but this is plenty of examples.

Not sure I can buy this. Think how hard it would be for multiple high school all stars, that speak to each other, all recruited by the best coaches and players, to keep something like that quiet.

MAYBE

But dang, that's some crazy compartmentalization if true

Sure, most every coach is poached from another school, but the allegation here is that Schloss knew he was coming to Texas for quite some time and has been secretly recruiting players there. That is a whole different story.

Also, Danny White acknowledged in the introductory presser that he did not want to bring Heupel with him so as not to impact the UCF program, but that ultimately he identified JH as the best option and he had to make the best hire for his new institution, even if it was not his preference.

I concur that Schloss' case appears to be much different on the outside given some of the details. But we don't know truly what happened on any of our coaching searches. Sure, we try to do it ethically using agents and asking for permission to talk, waiting until seasons are over, etc. but it can be expected that if the head coach leaves the staff will follow. The staff will rightfully take a job at the new school instead of having to perform a job search. Most incoming coaches want their own loyal staff members.

Schloss leaving A&M for Texas does not reflect poorly on the SEC. It reflects poorly on Schloss' character...

Good to know, Maybe if Danny White ever leaves we may bring Kiffen back as AD. If Dickey had been successful at UF I doubt he would have came back. I probably would have been OK with the A&M guy going to Texas had he not berated the reporter in the manner he did. Coaches have been doing it for years, seems a bigger deal now players do it as well.
Dickey's leaving Knoxville for Gainesville is most comparable to Johnny Majors, having brought success to Pitt, returning to Knoxville to see if he could bring success to his alma mater.

Dickey did put Florida--then an afterthought in the SEC--on an upward path in football.

To be fair, this was probably the worst kept secret in college baseball. It had been rumored for weeks this may happen, so it really wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was doing shady stuff like that.

I think the most blatant difference would be if a coach is spending time recruiting for one school while still being paid by another school.

I have no problem with players following coaches. That relationship is what most commit to: who will bring the best out in me and who will I enjoy my time playing for? The institution can't do that, only people.

Same with an academic scholarship. It's who you want to study under that will give direction and standing to your career thereafter.

Be wild to hear the stories of how they kept it all quiet if true. Probably never find out.

I'm not surprised by him doing shady stuff, just surprised proof wouldn't leak immediately if so.
