It’s bad enough that school children across the nation are going hungry on the skimpy portions offered through the Michelle Obama lunch menu.

At the Tewksbury school district in New Jersey, children who fall $3.10 behind on their food payments get one hard-boiled egg, a package of crackers and a carton of milk for lunch.

Children who are “poor enough” get free lunches. If you are not “poor enough,” you are “rich” and therefore must pay for your lunch and ALSO the poor kids lunches. If you do not pay up, you are selfish and will be starved and publicly shamed until you comply. The “poor” kid will still get a full, free lunch.

The outrage is that they are punishing the kids that are not poor and singling them out BY TAKING AWAY FOOD

The poor kids DON'T pay are are more than 3.10 behind!

IF YOU DON'T PAY YOU DON'T GET IT should be for EVERYONE!!!!

Take away the free lunch ALL TOGETHER and when someone gets 3.10 behind then they get the Egg treatment FOR THE WHOLE SCHOOL!!!!!!

The system that put in place FREE LUNCH to begin with

If u don't PAY for it u shouldn't get it!!!

But the moocher kids get a FULL Lunch...if they cant pay they should get the egg also

Poor kid in line never paid for lunch in his 11 years going to school gets FULL LUNCH

Middle Class kid in line is 3.10 behind which is maybe 2 days gets an egg


Take the free lunch program away and they BOTH get an egg that day and until they pay!!!

I think I figured it out. He is blaming the system for making kids who are 'supposed' to be able to afford their lunch pay (both literally and figuratively) in money and be disciplined for not paying by not getting a full meal. While on the other hand, kids who can't afford to pay are getting a full meal while not a paying anything.

Basically the middle class is screwed, I think. These are my perceptions of his post.

I understand that, but to call other kids moochers is stupid.

As I suspected. What mandates that children who come from households earning less than a certain income receive a free lunch is the Federal Government, and these lunches are paid for through Federal subsidies.

Further, I am glad you brought in the word "moocher"; you seem to be opposed to "free-riders" (what else does that term mean). Well, it appears that this school district is also opposed to free-riders, and they are refusing to provide lunch to any free-riders that they are not mandated to provide lunch to.

The question is: do you think the Federal Government should provide free lunches to all school children? If not, then why are you outraged that this school district is refusing to provide full meals to those 'moochers' that they have power over?
