The question is: do you think the Federal Government should provide free lunches to all school children? If not, then why are you outraged that this school district is refusing to provide full meals to those 'moochers' that they have power over?

NO FREE LUNCH to ANYONE!!!

It appears that the lunch program is outsourced to Mashio's Food Services, Inc. It, also, appears they are the ones laying out the rules on this. If you're really outraged, you can contact the president of the company @ frankm@maschiofood.com

OP is only interested in crying like a nine year old girl. He should go to his room and gaze at his Justin Beiber poster for awhile and leave posting to big boys and girls.

I paid for my lunch,,,did you?

Name of private school? Seriously, I would like to ensure that none of my friends ever send their children there.

As to your question, my parents paid for my lunches and my primary and secondary education (I attended private/parochial schools in the Kansas City area).

Children's chores and work are at different ends of any spectrum.

Not necessarily; only if his parents would have refused to provide him with room and board had he absolutely refused. Of course, just going on my own experience and knowledge of what individuals are generally like, that does not seem like a legitimate threat.

The issue is that kids who've run out of money on their accounts are shamed and the poor kids who never pay are not shamed.

Why is it ok the shame the kids which simply can't pay today? Why can't they be served the same as all the other kids? The parents can pay the cost back when more money is put on their account.

Again, what's the point in shaming them?

And, after that you paid your entire way? Or, did you have some sort of guardian who paid for **** without providing a credible threat that they would revoke room and board from you if you failed to make your bed?

I think the issue is that the company that has been contracted to provide meals is trying to remain profitable. From what little I could find on the internet, it appears they are calling the shots on this. It might just be a matter of parents meeting with school officials to change this. I agree that no one should be shamed for not being able to pay for anything such as food, shelter, etc.

There is no point in shaming the kids and this is where the outrage lies, for me. However, there is no reason why the school district or the food service company should eat the costs. And, since education is a legal right in this country, there is no effective way to ensure that the parents do pay for the lunches.

I do think that the egg and carton of milk approach is a good approach; however, I think it could be done in a manner that is not shameful (e.g., have the child eat their lunch in the secretary's office, where they are not around the other children).

Maybe I am just discerning your use of "issue" in a pejorative sense; if so, how is this an "issue"?
