School Shooting in Knoxville

That’s a whole lot of word salad to avoid admitting the purpose of a tool. The purpose of a saw is to cut wood, not move back and forth. The purpose of a shovel is to dig and scoop earth, not to just thrust downward. The purpose of a hammer is to pound a nail, not just for swinging... and the purpose of a gun is to kill or maim, not fire a projectile.

Of course it matters what an operator chooses to do with any of those tools, but that doesn’t change their intended purpose for existing in the first place.

The only purpose of a gun is to fire a projectile. That’s it, nothing else.

Ever drink for the taste? Because you're thirsty? To settle your nerves?
It's an acquired taste after multiple buzzes (no one likes the taste initially). Only a moron drinks alcohol to quench thirst. The settling of nerves is part of the buzz.

is your purpose to get drunk?

Absurd.
It would slow the flow of guns ending up in the wrong hands while having zero impact on law abiding gun owners.
Except we wouldnt be able to buy multiple guns. We face the same limitations of the criminals. But again that's what you push, making gun owners criminals.

It would most certainly slow it down. Undeniable and indisputable.
No, it just pushes the point of criminality back one more step.

They already acquire most of their guns illegally. You just want them to illegally obtain illegal guns. Literally changes nothing.

So the billions of rounds expended each year shooting targets represents a misuse of guns? Never thought of it that way. So anytime I shoot a gun and do not kill anything with it, I have essentially failed?
I didn't say that at all.
What I said was the intended purpose behind the invention of guns was to kill things. (primarily people)
I never once said that was the only purpose for guns today.

It decreases the ease of purchasing multiple guns "legally" only to turn around and sell them "illegally".

Fair enough trade off. I don't mind being told I can't drive 70mph thru a school zone because I understand the rationale.

So would you have to log every purchase in some kind of registry?

If you’re going that far, it seems like the more direct solution is to make it a crime to keep the gun in an unlocked, unattended car and make it a crime to fail to report a stolen weapon. I’m sure there are a few other things that might incentivize responsible gun ownership. You’d have an easier time selling the zealots on that (doubt they will go for the registry).
I keep saying offer tax incentives. Like we do on the various green technologies.

For safes, lock boxes, trigger locks, etc.

Everytime its brought up luther just wants to punish.

Except me buying multiple guns doesnt involve anyone else. Doesnt put anyone else in danger, and doesnt involve public infrastructure.

If the actual purpose of firearms is to kill then it's absolutely mindboggling, considering the sheer number of firearms and owners there are in this country, how wildly underutilized guns are.
