School Shooting in Knoxville

No no no. We want to be rational and reasonable after all. This year we compromise on silencers and SBRs. Next year fully automatic weapons and sawed off shot guns are removed from the list. Then the following year we “compromise” on explosive devices like hand grenades and mines.

Time to start putting the elephant back together one bite at a time.

People being allowed to have 15.9" barrels on their rifles?

You're a madman.

It could be that the record of the purchase is deleted after 30 days.
But yea, I'm for a registry and I know the zealots will fight it.
It seems like there’s general agreement that most weapons used in the commission of a crime were obtained illegally

So making the weapons harder to obtain legally is only going to be effective at reducing gun violence to the extent that it also makes the guns harder to obtain illegally. I.e. dopey mcgunowner says “it’s going to be hard for me to replace this gun so I better not keep it in my unlocked car like an idiot.”

Laws that punish irresponsible gun ownership seem like a better solution than laws that punish all gun ownership. But you would need to create some sort of registry for that to happen.

Alcohol Consumption During Prohibition.
We estimate the consumption of alcohol during Prohibition using mortality, mental health and crime statistics. We find that alcohol consumption fell sharply at the beginning of Prohibition, to approximately 30 percent of its pre-Prohibition level. During the next several years, however, alcohol consumption increased sharply, to about 60-70 percent of its pre-prohibition level. The level of consumption was virtually the same immediately after Prohibition as during the latter part of Prohibition, although consumption increased to approximately its pre-Prohibition level during the subsequent decade.

So it took a little bit for the black market to fill the void, thanks for again proving my point.

Please.......one of your greatest talking points is busted.
It reduced it to 30% of previous levels and then increased to 60-70% of previous levels. That means even after the increase, it was still 30-40% less.

Right, the demand was still there and it took a little while for the criminals to fill the need.

What???
Here is your post.
Name something slowed down once the government restricted citizens from buying or limited how much they could buy.

I named something. Alcohol consumption dropped significantly during prohibition and did not reach pre-prohibition levels until the repeal of prohibition.

Which means this............alcohol consumption was less when it was illegal. Pure and simple.
And that disproves your point.

You didn’t read your link.
It admitted to being a wild guess.
Nothing slowed and public health suffered

@VolStrom
LOL to a post of your about “music and English”

Harkens me back about 50 years to when we had parades in Knoxville or football games against AE and their band would march/cavort to a funky drum tattoo.

Care to counter?
With you, I've always envisioned someone laid back. Stubborn and certain for sure, with an informed take.
I'm laughing at the notion you are triggered by, "LMFAO. Counter? How about the silliness of your analogy between hammers and guns?????
