School Shooting in Knoxville

I could not agree more. There is rarely legitimate debate here, and original thoughts are almost equally devoid.

Let's list the original thoughts of you, OHVol and Luther on this subject.

1. Ban assault weapons
2. Limit amount of guns that can be purchased
3. Tax guns and ammo
4. Universal BGCs

Real original.

It's all good as long as it doesn't affect them.

Nice try.
COVID: California can't totally ban worship, Supreme Court rules | cbs8.com
The Supreme Court is telling California it can't enforce a ban on indoor church services because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The high court issued orders late Friday in two cases where churches had sued over coronavirus-related restrictions in the state. The high court said that for now, California can't ban indoor worship in areas where virus cases are surging, but it can cap indoor services at 25% of a building's capacity. The justices also declined to stop the state from barring singing and chanting at services.

And people should ignore it completely. Are they limiting the number of people who can riot and loot aka “peaceful protest”?

What is the extra tax suppose to accomplish?

Out of all the regular posters, I would say that you are easily most adept debater because you are pretty much the exact opposite of what I was outlining.

I think that's why the sillies don't jump down your throat when you say something that is not in line with the status quo.
You and have had nice discussions. And I look forward to more in the future.

I'm here to mostly have fun, laugh, understand others with different opinions. I find little appeal for simple quarrels.

Lmao you have me confused with someone else. I have been vocal on gun rights in this forum, but I am pro-2A.

Nice try.

I've enjoyed our discussions as well, sincerely.

I lurk regularly, chime in every now and then. I just don't have the will to argue to no end most of the time.

I assumed you were attempting to illustrate the absurdity of Luther’s premise.
Good. Whether I am effectively doing so is subjective and wouldn't argue if you think my approach is crap.

Missed boat #2
Both fire arms and alcohol can be purchased in single and/or multiple units on one transaction.

We arent in society at large. We are on an anonymous internet forum. The majority of participants seem to be more gun friendly than not.

Unless you just like the sound of your own typing, I think it's you who needs to change your demeanor if you want to get your point across, and have better discussions.
We are on a regionally-associated anonymous Internet forum. I invite you to carry your views to a forum with an association in a less gun-friendly region.

I made my point, and it rings true. Keep devaluing competing perspectives at your own peril.

I dont think so.

Disagreement gets a bad rap here. Zep disagrees with the majority but he does so courteously. Others, on both sides can be real dik diks.
I can appreciate conviction, just not willful ignorance defended ad nauseam.

LOL

Ok. let's have a discussion. I do not believe any further regulations or restrictions on firearms are necessary or beneficial to "society". It wasn't long ago people could buy semi-automatic firearms through the mail without any kind of checks and yet mass murder with firearms was a rare occurrence. So that tells me the problem isn't the number of firearms in circulation, the type of firearms available or who can purchase firearms. It tells me we have a problem with people, something has changed with the people over the last 40-50 years. Is that the proliferation of prescription antidepressants/sycophantic drugs? Is it related to a lack of discipline during youth or something else?

@OHvol40

You wanted an honest discussion?

That's why I think the OT thread is great. Interaction with argument. Like a break from the contention.
It would be much more interesting and (likely) fruitful to sit around a table with a couple beers to have these discussions in person.

@McDad is a masterdebater

Agree that it’s true, disagree that this is a “missed boat.” It’s one of the places that the analogy fails because it’s unclear what’s equivalent.

A single six pack of beer.
A fifth of bourbon.
A glass of wine or cocktail at a bar.

Which of these is a single unit?

We've weakly attempted to get together to watch a game but there's been no motivation with our recent suckitude.
