Scotty Hopson

CBP 1st but not UT's

See: Tony Harris, Charles Hathaway, Allan Houston, Vincent Yarborough all McDonald's AA believe it or not.

Yeah, I knew he was but I was trying to give McDonald's a little more credit and leave him off the list. I still remember Doug telling all the fans that we were number 1 (just like Vick did) during one of his games.

Just took a quick look at the current AP Top 6 teams, and here's how many Burger Boys each program has ever had.

UNC's had 50
Duke's had 39
Kansas has had 25
UCLA's had 25
Memphis has had 8
UT's had 5

Other notables:

Kentucky (25)
Indiana (17)
Florida (10)
UNLV (8)
Arizona (15)
UConn (7)
Georgetown (8)
Syracuse (11)
Louisville (16)

said he was going to take a break from recruiting to concentrate on the playoffs. his mom said they would definitely listen if uk came calling. this is all from his mother

According to the news up here Billy G. said that he would not recruit a committed player. Thats why Ky. was never on the radar until recently.

That's straight up bullcrap. There are other reasons not being mentioned for why he hasn't recruited him hard.

I'm sorry but you're probably not going to find a 'good' coach in America that recruits successfully with those standards.

An interesting sideline:

This morning, I noticed that the local McDonald's is running an "All-American Special" in honor of Scotty being named to the team--a sausage biscuit, hashbrowns, and coffee for $2. It must be a little strange for a 17 year old to have his own fast food combo.

I got an Egg McMuffin.

Seconded on the bullcrap part. I don't know what reasons you mean, but for what it is worth, Scotty's coach believes UK isn't pushing harder because Gillispie is afraid of being embarrassed by not signing such a premier player in his back yard.

I don't know what the reason would be either, but there's no way Gillispie is that dumb to not go after a guy in his backyard that clearly opened up his recruitment.. but won't recruit him because he never 'officially' decommitted.

Saying he won't recruit players that are committed (especially in Scotty's case) is a stupid cover up for whatever it is.

Rumors over here from Kentucky fans is that Hopson has told Billy G. he's not interested in UK. Not sure how reliable my source is, though.

No - I hope it's true..

But, just to think of the Kentucky fans that have major mood swings from this kid.

His mom still sounded like she wanted Kentucky to come calling though.

Yeah, it is quite humorous watching UK fans sweat about this. Around here, consensus among UK fans is that they don't have much of a chance to land him.

UPDATE: Put up 37 in his final home game. CBG was in attendance as was Stansbury and the entire MSU coaching staff, and assistants from Cincy and UT.

We really need to keep the pressure on, this kid would be a huge land. UK is obviously interested in him at least a little bit, and MSU is still very much in the picture.

Cotton, any new info?
