SCOTUS fails to stop TX abortion law.

What percent of the electorate would you estimate to be "up for grabs" in a normal presidential election?
I was referring to this topic where you appeared to be applying those ratios.

Based on the last voting cycle as compared what expectations are for the next one it’s going to be higher than your 10%. There aren’t going to be enough dead people still on the voting rolls to get to 81M

Count how many people voted in the last election and subtract that number from the total number of eligible voters in this country.

I would wager that ain't 10% and no ways in hell 4%...

Who is going to toss it? Who over rules the SCOTUS? They just didn’t grant relief, as the quote I pasted said they made no ruling on the constitutionality of the law, if anything they “tossed” the plaintiff’s request for relief.
There are several challenges to it working its way through the lower courts right now

Yep. But those won’t result in “tossing” this SCOTUS finding. This law hasn’t faced it’s first real challenge yet. This lawsuit wasn’t even a real challenge. Read the conclusion this lawsuit was tossed because who they sued made no damn sense.

What is interesting is four months after the law passed and nothing serious has materialized against it. I think that’s a validation of how the law was crafted to attack. It’s a difficult to find whom to sue. Read the dissenting SCOTUS opinions they are irritated by it too.

I’m not defending the law I don’t like it. But it’s an interesting case to watch in this far how the durability has held up due to its crafting.

And honesty I’m being a nit picking little b$?@&. We both agree I think this law hasn’t faced a real challenge in court yet. I’m kinda inferring in that a validation of the drafting approach. I don’t necessarily agree with it (I don’t agree with pitting citizen against citizen. They have a narc tip line FFS!) but I can appreciate the durability of the approach thus far. I think eventually somebody will successfully attack the premise that a state can’t be held accountable for the laws it’s legislators pass.

If Trump runs again, the number will be higher than 81M.

John McWhorter makes a quite convincing argument that the extreme woke/anti-racism crowd share the same characteristics you see in the far religious right hence the Taliban

I'd argue Antifa fits the mold as well. Indoctrination, driven by core ideals and infidels must be punished.

Extreme is extreme even if they are the extreme version of your team.
Serious question... how many reside on each side? How many Americans are considered far right vs far left? The ones that belive in draconian measures.

I think it is going to take somebody trying to enforce the law, maybe several different types of lawsuits, to dispense with all the issues in this law.

Hopefully the culture war BS doesn’t take over but I could absolutely see blue states taking this ruling as an invitation to pull the same **** with guns or vaccines.

Exactly how it’s gonna play out. Right now people are struggling to find an entity to sue. The first case against Planned Parenthood brought by Karen Smith could get fast tracked to SCOTUS striking this down.

If this idiotic law stands I absolutely see blue states taking advantage of it for guns and other things.

Thanks Texas!

What? That people voted against Trump in record breaking numbers?
You have to know it would happen again.

I'm saying it doesn't matter how many people vote and for who, the winner will already be decided from now on.

So, you're saying Democrats, in reality, actually believe & think the Biden/Harris combo are failures & pieces of sh!t and really aren't qualified to be elected as POTUS & VP position ..... and simply just voting against Trump, out of pure hatred for him, is the ticket to happiness?
That in & of it's self sounds like a solid plan that's completely working great now doesn't it?

That's absurd. Didn't have you pegged as that big of a conspiracy theorists. You're not a Q guy are you?

Yeah I think that’s mostly right. How it works procedurally is above my pay grade but I’d expect that most of these can be removed to federal court where they will get dismissed for lack of standing.

A father suing over abortion of his child seems like a conceivable exception to that approach since he would presumably meet the concrete damages threshold. It seems like that’s the case to watch for?

Even still, the doomsayers claiming this will end abortion clinics in Texas seem overwrought. There are legal loopholes to all of this. Don’t perform an abortion without a consent waiver from both parents. Major hospitals can just require an indemnification agreement from clinics before granting privileges. Activist groups can offer free representation and effective indemnity until the law and expectations are stabilized. I’m not sure it accomplishes much other than legislative virtue signaling, but I guess we’ll see.

I think the country and the world are much better off under Biden than under Trump. The same would be true in 2024.

The bolded at the end is really all this is about. This is Texas after all. We all remember the great Democrat House Exodus of summer 2021 right? That’s been my take since I’ve seen it and started tracking it

Not a Q guy in the least but I 100% believe the powers that be will never allow another unapproved candidate win the WH.
