Offense AND defense are both looking good. It's been pretty even so far. Offense is quicker, fewer mental mistakes on O. Scorers have been Quentin Hancock, Lucas Taylor, a trick play where Wilhoit caught a pass!
Crompton threw the pass to Lucas.
Jerrod Mayo looks really good. David Ligon looks good....good feet. Steven Jones has stepped up. His initial contact has been good.
Cory Anderson and Montario Hardesty are not scrimmaging.

Yeah, I think Fulmer called for an extra point from the 35 and it was a fake with Casey Woods throwing to Wilhoit.

yea i saw it...it was a 43 yard attempt and the holder rolled right and threw it left to wilhoit wide open

Someone on another board posted....

Special Teams scores first. Fulmer calls for field-goal from 34-yard line. It's turns out to be a fake, Casey Woods to James Wilhoit(wide-open) for the score.

Ainge looked hot/cold. Couple of completions to Swain.

Crompton fumbled twice early, losing the second one. Did come back to throw three perfect balls, one dropped, the last on a dime to LT for a score.

Wilhoit was like a kid in a candy store out there with the media afterwards.

I was there also and they are looking good.Ainge was hot and cold and made some nice reads.Crompton is looking good but had a few bad plays. Williams is running hard and i was impressed with Coker. Nick Stephens had a few bad snaps and i think Hancock is going to be a player. The D is going to be tough as ever. Mayo was all over the place and i want to know who was #54 on the front four. He was wrecking havoc. I am looking forward for the season and they will right the ship this year!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that the defense looked good, we've been able to count on that for close to a decade now. Was 54 having his sucess against the first team O-line?

Hmm. Not sure who 54 is. On today's roster 54 is Eric yound and Stephen Darville from the non-scholarship roster who is also an offensive lineman.

D-Mo started at SS over Antwan Stewart. (You don't know how happy that makes me.)

McNeil and Crompton fumbled two snaps, and lost one.

Ainge had two INT's including one on a hail marry on the last play, and should have had 1-2 more, as Wade dropped one that would have gone for a TD.

Foster and Yancy had back to back fumble plays.

Hardegree threw two TD's, one to Hancock and one to Briscoe.

Crompton threw two as well, one to Coker and one to Lucas Taylor.

D-Mo also blocked two field goals.

Doesn't sound like Ainge looks much better then he did last year. I'm anticipating UT is going to be running the ball about 75% of the time.

It's concerning that the pass the Wade dropped was at about our own 10 yard line.

He wasn't in the endzone getting sacked and throwing to keep from giving up a safety? Thats one of his famous plays.... :banghead:

No, in my opinion that one was just more of a bad read really (or a bad throw I guess). He tried to throw a pass to the sideline and Wade was there.

Freak, did it look like a typical early scrimmage or was there really anything that bothered you about it?

To me it sounds like they had the typical ups and downs in a first scrimmage. I was hoping they would have been a little more sharp.

Would your live assessment agree with that?

Lets give Ainge a little space before we start tearing into him. His psyche needs rebuilding right now, not criticism.

Would it be fair to say the defense is further along at this point than the offense? Seems like from the reviews (and thanks, by the way) from everyone that it was the offense making the most mistakes (fumbles, picks, etc.)
