Seantrel Henderson/USC/Violations

You bunch of hilljacks are full of it. Doc Tressel is soooo conservative, he makes Jim Tressel look like a wild man. If you believe that story about him, I have some swampland in Florida for sale. Give it up, your program is now going to be down there with Meatchigan.

wow, just wow!:eek:lol::salute::popcorn::stop::post-4-1090547912::dunno:

What a d-nozzle. Not only were you dead wrong in the post, you assumed something about our fanbase that only applies to a portion. We could just as easily assume you're an out of work, uneducated, chain smoking, too lazy to leave your shut down industrial shathole, dimwit, but we didn't until after you vomited on your keyboard.

Sweet conclusion. Somehow what we believe about assistant sweater vest will alter the trajectory of our program. Where does one go to avoid being that type of moron.

If you have some swamp land I might be interested. Hey, it worked for Disney.

I'm at OSU, so I'm rooting for the Buckeyes, but I'm not stupid enough to think Michigan is going to stay down. You better hope Rich Rod gets the job done there, because as good as I think he will be, he won't be as good as Harbaugh.

If USC doesn't get close to the death penalty, I will be shocked. Monte is wishing he wouldn't have left the NFL now. At least there you can pay your players and it's legal.

I was more thinking, monte is wishing he never followed lane to soil the once proud kiffin name....

You people need to get over it. An NCAA probation is nothing. Alabama is on probation for giving illegal benefits to players and they just won a national championship. The NCAA is totally toothless and sees major penalties as too severe. They will not do it, but they need to go back to post season bans and TV bans for programs along with the scholarship reductions. And voiding games that have already been played is totally insignificant since those games have already been settled on the field. Who cares as to what goes on paper? They still beat you.

But if you are allowing teams to self impose penalties that is like letting the fox in the hen house to eat only the fat hens.

I am glad that Quitfin is gone, but I was never worried about any sanctions from the NCAA while he was here because their penalties are totally futile.

I think that ended in 2007 or 2008.

The Bammers were eligible for the death penalty, but the NCAA was scared of ruining any program like they did SMU.

Since the Bammers won a BCS 7 years later, that may convince the NCAA that the punishment was not severe enough.

We can only hope.

I think that you are mistaken in that they received 3 years probation last year for the text book scandal. So they are still on probation.

my bad. forgot about that one.

They just can't stay out of trouble down there, can they?

I really wanted Dallas to lose that first round playoff game and see Saban get a carrot dangled in front of him.

Man, I was thinking the same thing. That would have been the best money ever spent.

Lane Kiffin,Ogeron, and USC willnot escaoe karma. Bottom line Carroll would never have left USC unless he knew they would be put on probation. Go Vols !!!!!!!!!!

Bama had a significant probation right around the time Shula took the job. He suffered through the probation years then as they were about to come out... the Bammer elites tossed him overboard for Saban. Saban's early success was wholly dependent on the good job Shula did recruiting even while under sanctions.

I don't know if he'd have ever been able to coach at the elite level but what they did to him was just wrong.

I'm not sure which is more sad. That everyone is buying this heinous 'article' as being even 10% true, or trying to understand how any thing X and O are doing now is any different than the 'keep the power T in the news' stuff that was here just a few months ago.

I've mentioned this before on here, and I never claim to be an insider about anything, but a family member of mine is a lawyer involved in the USC case.

For those Vol fans hoping for some sort of redemption, unless something drastic has changed in the last couple of days, USC will not face any severe sanctions, i.e. loss of bowl appearances, TV ban, etc.

The NCAA could never prove Todd McNair, the key contact for the university, had knowledge that Reggie Bush's parents were living rent-free, or that he was aware of any payments/incentives. The boosters involved kept the university enough degrees away to absolve them.

There will likely be moderate probation, scholarship reductions, and other slaps on the wrist. But it looks like the worst USC will be considered guilty of is having "a lack of institutional control".

Agree 100%

i dont doubt you raynoch, but cant a lawyer get in trouble for discussing details of a legal case, outside of those involved in the case? thats just an assumption, btw.

Pete leaving suddenly and so late in the recruiting process still makes me think there is something to this.

It doesn't sound like that lawyer guy divulged anything inside. It actually sounds pretty legit to me. They've been trying to nail Reggie Bush on this for what, 5 years? They can't seem to get somebody to come clean. And that's about all they can do at this point. I sincerely believe what this guy is saying. That really, there is a lack of institutional control. The NCAA is not as strong as it once was. Let's face it. X and O can call recruits right under UT's nose during quiet periods, players enrolled and have limos show up to pick up recruits and nothing seems to happen. It's just different out there on the West coast as well.

I just don't see USC getting into too much trouble over all this and their recruiting tactics will continue.

First off, the case has been concluded. The NCAA hasn't released their punishment publicly, but the case itself has been finished for a while.

Secondly, my lawyer friend didn't divulge any specifics regarding the case that weren't already widely known or discussed. He simply offered his insight into how the whole ordeal unfolded, from a legal standpoint.

Third, no one but the NCAA knows what the extent of the punishment will be. So, his opinion of what the sanctions will be is just a well-informed guess from someone inside the walls of the investigation.

Lastly, he is not a USC fan. Far from it. So he would probably be fine with a heavier punishment; he just doesn't see it happening.
