Season isn’t over yet.

We stayed within 15 points of a good LSU team with 1st game by Vescovi, with most experienced player Turner out for season, Bowden in a terrible funk, after losing 4 starters from last season, having Plavsic eligibility for season denied and having a couple of off-season transfers.

That's a whole lot of hurdles to coach around.

I think the team well build chemistry over the next 5 games and finish strong.

Some need to get over this issue with Barnes. It is what it is and will be for a while. So just live with it. Not going to change no matter what so we need to quit looking backwards and move on.

It is what it is. We might have gotten Pearl (maybe) after his suspension. He did a bad thing at UT.
He paid the price. Barnes is no where near Pearl in coaching. $5 mil. a year would have gotten some looks.
That's true for now. Pearl has a long way to go to 700 wins in D1.

LSU isn't that good.

They lost to Wisconsin and LSU, it’s not that bad. Take 4 TOs away this game as Vescovi will learn how to break the press and not directly pass it into guys, add a few fouls to Mays, and our team looks different this game and we might have pulled it out

A lot of if's. Can you even type that with a straight face? What if we don't shoot 50% from 3? How do you shoot lights out from 3 and still lose by double digits at home? That's unheard of.

You give up 19 points off turn overs. that 's been the biggest problem in at least 4 of our losses. that and playing lazy D.

Grant Williams, of course. But there was no way the early departure of Jordan Bone could have been anticipated before last season. If you are suggesting that you knew that he was an NBA prospect prior to the start of last season? Well, I simply don't believe you and I have no idea what that could have been based on. Turner's injury could not have been anticipated either. This was never going to be a great season. We are not the type of mature, seasoned program that reloads every year. We never have been that type of program. We will be back in the big dance in 2021... and yes, you come across as SPOILED.

Some clueless fans did not anticipate Grant Williams leaving early. Here's proof:

Grant Williams NBA draft

You're giving Volnation too much credit

Hasn’t turner been hurt with the same injury since basically the beginning of last year?

I will say I have questions about how long Turner has been hurt "again" and how long the rehab process is. If Turner's injury was known about in April or May it would've been better to bite the bullet with offseason training than keep delaying the inevitable until Turner abandons the team mid season.

The rest of it you guys are over the top.

We lost 5 starters from last year at this point, including both people that played point guard.

The only senior has gone into a slump and lost all confidence.

Just look at how much better Pons and Fulk have gotten from last year, look how much JJJ has improved since game one. It shouldn't be hard to see why we are struggling, but they are certainly some reasons for optimism.

Theoretically, our best two players (Pons and Fulkerson) will be back. JJJ probably comes back at this point as well. Then we add 2 more 5 stars and a high 4 star, plus we add a quality depth with Uros and Bailey, also most likely getting some improvement from Gaines, Vescovi, and Pember.

I genuinely believe that's a top 10 team. I think this team would be better with Turner and also having Vescovi. Turner was a great defender (which looks like it might be a weakness of Vescovi), and was really the only person we had that could consistently get to the rim and finish. Vescovi looks like he will be a good shooter and a good distributer as well. Sucks that Turner is out.

You guys? I wasn’t really part of the convo I just keep hearing how Barnes couldn’t have foreseen turners injury and it just seems to me he has been hurt with the same injury for two years now, which would kind of render that sentiment false. But it was an honest question because I could be mistaken about it.

I’m looking into the future. If you take away TOs that shouldn’t happen, have a well refereed game, etc. our team could be a bit above mediocre. LSU and Wisconsin aren’t great, but they aren’t bad teams either.

Not like LSU shot 20% from 3 either. They shot 47.6% from 3. A 2.4% difference isn’t very much, and they made several covered 3s

Everyone knew this was going to be a down year. That was with the expectation that Uros would be eligible. Now we're having a bad year without Uros and everybody is freaking out. .

Also, those saying we should have let Barnes leave, we wouldn't have the freshmen this year, nor te recruiting class coming in next fall.

Chill, it will be ok.

I think Turner being out hurts more than Uros.

I'm glad they kept Barnes from leaving and I do think things will be OK, but this year is still going to suck

I agree it will suck but we sort of expected it to suck. I'm not surprised in the least. Well bounce back hugely next season.

I'm disappointed, too. But, with a healthy Turner and eligible UP, this would be a different team. My biggest gripe is Bowden's disappearance. JJJ is a freshman and is on an overall upward trajectory.

He's cost himself a lot of money if he continues down this path. Hope he gets it figured out.

Cost himself a lot of money? Surely you didn't think he was an NBA prospect. He was the 4th or 5th option last season. Anybody expecting him to be able to carry the load was fooling themselves. Great kid, great high level role player, but that's about it. He can probably catch on overseas somewhere a make a decent living if he chooses.
