1. Venables (after getting killed by SC, the future looks very dim for Venables)*
2. Napier (could save his job if he pulls out a couple more wins)
3. Stoops (His worst coaching job of his career this season).
4. DeBoer (Bama loses another game, maybe 2, and the fan base goes postal on DeBoer)
5. Pitman (Pigs lose 3 more and finish 6-6).

Everyone else looks safe for now.

*Should the Vols hire Venables as DC if he gets canned and Banks gets a HC job?

DeBoer's buyout is in the neighborhood of $70M currently so no matter how much they might want him gone, I doubt it happens for a few years.

Likewise, Venables is in the $40M+ range to be fired so he's likely to not get canned for a year or two also. If he does, though, there's zero reason for him to work as anyone's DC with that kind of money.

Napier is toast.

Pittman and Stoops, who cares, but I think those admins and fanbases are fine with mediocrity. Petrino might "Fulmer" Pittman out of the chair somehow if he gets a chance.

When bricks start flying through his office windows*, he might be willing to leave "voluntarily" with a minimal buyout.

*See Bill Curry: 1989 10-1 regular season, share of SEC Championship, run out of town

You forgot Hugh Freeze.

Venables was an odd choice from the beginning.

Freeze is looking terrible.

Freeze is 9-30 all time in SEC play.

I seem to remember everyone ripping Oklahoma for their terrible defense. Needing 50+ points to win by a single possession. I think they hoped that Lebby would have to stick around and keep the offense going. They did not count on Miss State needing to replace another former Oklahoma coordinator, Mike Leach.

At the time, Oklahoma thought they made the perfect hire. Who would have thought Oklahoma’s offense could become non-existent so quickly? Very much similar to Alabama’s hiring of Deboer. Who could have guessed that Saban’s defense could regress so quickly with so many former players still on the roster?

Who is UK going to bring in if they fire Stoops? Anyone else with moderate success there will eventually leave for a better job. And his buyout is $44 million.

If Napier somehow beats UGA (I can hope), things will get interesting

Good list! I’d add Hugh Freeze to this. Auburn is a dumpster fire.

Yeah, I'm gonna bet that Stoops seat is ice cold. I could be wrong, but I don't care. I think he'll just retire one day and they'll have a long if not permanent rebuild.

Venables is having a lot of bad luck. They've had ... how many WRs out? No one would be playing well with 2 young inexperienced QBs and a completely depleted WR corps.

Tough to say if he can be successful there or not. Feels a bit like a Mike Shula situation (Shula actually did a pretty good job re-building Bama, but had such bad injury luck his last season).

Jon Sumrall will be the next coach at Kentucky.

He could be one of those guys who makes a dynamite Coordinator for his career, but an utter disaster as a HC. And honestly, Seth Littrell isn't doing him any favors on offense.

Venables pretty much wasn't set up for success from the start. He stepped into a prime time position after never having HC experience at the G5 level (or any collegiate level in fact) and had to do a complete rebuild after the defection of Lincoln. Lebby pretty much helped save last year, but OU's going through another offensive rebuild and I don't think Littrell is the guy.

Venables may not be the guy either, but one thing about OU is they are loyal to a fault with their coaches. They'll give him all the rope in the world to either pull himself up or hang himself.

Bullets, maybe, but it's going to take more than bricks to get me to walk away from generational money.

Like Bryan Harsin at Auburn, let them drag your family through BS and hate you but get your millions and leave town never to be seen again except fishing or playing golf. Jimbo says..... actually..... Jimbo says nothing, he no longer has to talk to anyone he doesn't want to talk with.

Plus they had to replace Jeff Lebby at OC. That’s a near impossible task. He is one of the best play callers in the nation.

Why? He's already making $1.6 million more than Iowa is paying Ferentz and is under contract for another 7 years. I can't see Iowa paying Stoops more than Ferentz and giving him a 7 year deal on top of that.

He is an Iowa grad and had a dalliance with Texas A&M last offseason.

He's never getting another deal like he was allegedly offered by A&M but if he does, whoever makes that offer needs to be put on a 48 hour psychiatric hold. And if he ever willingly leaves UK, he needs to be put on a 48 hour psychiatric hold.

UK needs a coach good enough to occasionally pull out a 9 or 10 win season once or twice a decade then collapse back to around 500. Anyone with a better record than that will get national attention from other programs and eventually leave for a higher profile school. As disgruntled as the UK fan base is right now, this is probably the best situation they could ever expect.

Freeze should be somewhere on this list. He’s recruiting at a high enough level that they will be extremely talented at some point but the team is a mess currently.
