SEC Network got another provider

I haven't looked at the other SEC teams opener. However, With us being a underdog i think we have a good chance of being the GOTW.

Doesn't CBS usually pass on showing the first week or two of CFB in favor of something else anyway?

And CBS and ESPN will just pick the highest ranked, bigger market teams like they usually do.

Also, didn't this more come about because Dish was making a big deal with ESPN about airing all ESPN's networks?

The only thing that's been said for certain is that the South Carolina-Texas A&M week 1 game will be shown on SEC Network.

This is the dance done all the time. I have worked on both sides and often am hired to consult on these issues for both sides.
The odds are most large providers will pickup the SEC, especially those providers that have a large southern subscriber base. Don't forget Directv has the exclusive NFL Sunday package for several more years, and that binds lots of sports fans to them.
In the long term this business model will breakdown under its on weight, OTT streaming will eventually help breakup the programmers strangle hold on the consumer, as the consumer gets priced further out of the market.
The whole issue is very complex and deeply rooted in basic economics of the entertainment industry.

Dang so on some of the cupcakes I'll have to settle for the Vol Network or the Butch Jones show.

Or the SECN picks up showing it.

If it's like the big 10's network and two games are shown at the same start time, then viewing of the games are divided into appropriate regions.

Correct; CBS usually doesn't start showing games until about the 3rd week of the season. I'm not sure why, but they always seem to start their coverage around the time we used to play Florida.

Isn't there usually some major tournament during those weeks - I think it's either tennis or golf - that they like to show / keep the rights to?

Though one of those years, also, I think one of those 3 weeks they chose to show the game that was played in Ireland.

Edit: Yep, in 2012 they showed the Notre Dame - Navy week 1 game (8/31) in Ireland but didn't come back until week 3.

They show the US Open of tennis, but the tournament is moving to ESPN next year so that does open 2 Saturdays that they could add a game.

Dish is starting to pick up steam as they have signed the longhorn network too. AT&T uverse is coming to my area in July, That's who I'm rolling with. Direct is about to lose a lot of customers.

No kidding about Direct. True story, my son's tv stopped Recieving signal. Called direct and the lady said we will send someone for $50. Said I didn't get the equipment protection plan for $7/month. Told her I bet comcast doesn't do that. Her response, don't know have a good day and she hung up.

SEC Releases 2014 Conference Football Schedule > SEC > NEWS

The Southeastern Conference today announced the conference football schedule for the 2014 season.

“One year from today, August 21, 2014, the SEC Network will be launched, marking an historic day in the almost 80-year history of the Southeastern Conference,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “One week later, the SEC Network will kick off the 2014 football season with a conference game between Texas A&M and South Carolina scheduled for Thursday, August 28 in Columbia, S.C.”

Each SEC institution will determine the timing for release of its full schedule for the 2014 season, including conference and non-conference contests. With 14 playing weekends, the 2014 schedule includes two open dates for each team and conference contests scheduled each week of the season.

As announced following the 2013 spring meetings, the conference football schedule format is currently under review. The 2014 schedule is based on a 12-year rotation of conference opponents, which includes six divisional contests for each team, along with games against one permanent non-divisional opponent and one rotating non-divisional opponent.

“The SEC Presidents and Chancellors have committed to a review of football scheduling to be completed in time for preparation of the 2016 schedule,” Slive said at the spring meetings. “The objective of this review is to develop a scheduling format for the 2016 season and beyond, which will be in the best interests of the conference. The conference’s current 6-1-1 scheduling format will continue until a new format is approved by the conference membership."

For the 23rd consecutive year, the 2014 season will culminate with the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, December 6 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

They'll also air the Vandy-Temple game:

he SEC Network will kick off the college football season with a doubleheader on Thursday Aug. 28. In addition to the previously announced Texas A&M at South Carolina game, Temple-Vanderbilt will also air on the network that day.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive and ESPN senior vice president Justin Connolly, speaking at a press conference at the Georgia Dome, said that the service, which thus far has only inked a carriage pact with AT&T U-verse, will present five football games during the opening weekend of the 2014 college football season. Subsequently, the service will air a pigskin tripleheader each Saturday during the campaign.

Riffing off the success of College GameDay, the SEC Network will feature a weekly on-campus pregame show. ESPN’s Joe Tessitore will serve as the host of SEC Nation, which will make its initial stop at Columbia, S.C. before the Gamecocks and Aggies. The show’s first Saturday stop will be in Auburn, Ala., on August 30 prior to the Tigers’ matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

ESPN is ramping up its commitment to the SEC Storied franchise, with 10 installments scheduled in 2014. Next up: be Bo, Barkley and The Big Hurt, a retrospective look on a rare moment in time when three of the country’s great athletes overlapped at Auburn. It will debut on ESPNU Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. (ET.)

SEC Network also unveiled its brand campaign, aspiring to convey the experience of being a fan of the conference, while sporting the "Take it All In" tagline. School specific creative is being produced to represent each of the 14 SEC schools. The campaign begins next year.
