Well don't worry about switching because Charter will no longer be providing cable in the state of Tennessee real soon. All cable in the state will be Comcast. Charter was bought out in the state of Tennessee so everybody will be Comcast.
Not entirely true. As part of the Comcast-Time Warner merger, Comcast is trading/selling some TWC markets to Charter in exchange for some current Charter markets so each company can consolidate some area operations. However, Charter will still have some markets in Tennessee.
Markets Charter is tranferring to Comcast: Alcoa, Blount Co (currently overlap with Comcast in some areas), Farragut, Gatlinburg, Knox Co (currently overlap with Comcast in some areas), Lenoir, Loudon, Loudon Co, Louisville, Madisonville, Maryville, Monroe Co, Pigeon Forge, Sevier Co (currently overlap with Comcast in some areas), Sevierville (currently overlap with Comcast in some areas), Seymour, Sweetwater, Tellico and Tellico Village, TN
Markets Comcast is transferring to Charter: Tri-Cities (Bristol, Johnson City, Kingsport), Chattanooga.
So two of the five biggest markets in Tennessee will still be primarily Charter.
Additionally, these transfers will not take place until 2015, so they have no real bearing on whether current customers will see the SEC Network this fall.
Same deal for the ATT/Direct TV merger. That won't go through for at least a year and won't make any difference on whether DTV gets the network.
