SEC Tournament Cancelled

I don’t understand why everyone keeps saying overreaction. Was Italy overreacting when they closed the country? I mean that’s HUGE compared to canceling a tournament. I don’t know about you guys but I would prefer the hospitals not be overwhelmed with sick peoples because we are worried about overreacting.

Why don't we stop everything every year when flu season starts?

Welp...the NCAA Tournament is next. If it isn't cancelled, there will almost certainly be a postponement of at least 30 days. My question is what does "latest developments" mean? Does a coach or player in the SEC have the virus? Seems like if there weren't any significant changes from what was known last night, they would've continued on with the plan of playing with no fans in attendance.

NBA suspending its season. They saw first hand what can happen when a player tests positive. Now, Donovan Mitchell tested positive. It can spread quickly in a team environment.

Fwiw, he was the only other Jazz player / staff / personnel who tested positive.
Still, sweat, coughing, sneezing, no time to wash hands on the court and with how many other players they intermingle with...

Because there is a vaccine for the flu, and it doesn't spread as quickly as corona. I think some of this has been overblown. A doctor told me Monday that it is a bit overblown, but he also said that the scary part is that this is not something we have seen before. It's just different than the flu. It is best to be cautious.

Did I miss where multiple countries are picking who lives and dies because hospitals are overwhelmed with people deathly sick from the flue? Did flu season shut down a country like it’s WW2? This is more about limiting how quickly this spreads and overwhelms hospitals more than anything.

I agree with this. Is it being way overblown? Most likely. But you don't know that for sure. The saying "better safe than sorry" makes sense. It sucks to see all these events being cancelled but at the end of the day, being cautious is smart. But what isn't smart is going into a full blown panic and buying up supplies like a damn zombie apacolypse is about to go down any day now. People still have to live their lives somewhat normally.

All of the conference tournaments being cancelled so close together makes me thing the decision was flowed down from a higher source. I think the NCAA tournament is cancelled.
